repost from NWR since I have no patience: Holly wood Tans?

Okay, so I have to go to a wedding this weekend and will be on display since I have to do a reading. I was thinking a tan might look better and offend less people than my pasty regular skin. Plus, it might help cover up some evil mosquito bites I got Saturday. And isn't it supposed to make you look thinner? Anyhoo, there is a Hollywood tan place near my apt. Anyone done the spray tan thing? I am scared of looking like an oompaloompa and not being able to do anything about it. Should I just stick with the pasty white thing?

Peronally, I would go to a Spa and get a buff and bronze. In the experiences I've had, Spas have more natural looking self tanners, plus you can exfoliated before. It may be more expensive, but it also very relaxing!

Ooh....that sounds nice. But with FH going to school and working UNPAID internships I don't think I can justify that right now. Darn!

There is another option however, you can go to a school where there are students studing this and get a deep discount. I will FM you info. I think the cost is somewhere between $35-$40, about half of what you would pay at a spa.

sorry to butt in your post, Suzanne!

Can anyone FM me with info to the 'buff and bronze'? Recs for any particular spa? I hate exposing my pastey arms and legs, but it's getting really HOT to hide them in clothing!

Not sure of your location, but most spas offer this service now, but off the top of my head:

Estee Lauder in Manhasset
Rain Day Spa in Woobury

The school is LI Nail & Skin Care Institute in Levittown (on Hempstead Tpke)

Cactus Salon in Syosset has the Spray Tan. It lasts for about 1 week.
