My neighbors son is 8......mom wants him to read more........so I brought home some books from my library for his age level, and he wound up liking one book so much, that he actually wrote me the sweetest note and stuck it in my door!! Made my heart melt!
So I order more books from that series from Scholastic last Thursday, and I FINALLY get an email today saying that they shipped. It took 1 week to put 3 books in a box??? I called them on Monday to complain and said that I want to cancel the order because if it were Amazon, they would have shipped the very next day. The lady said I can't cause the postal slip had already been printed.......huh?????????? You had no problem printing the mailing slip, but not packing the books???
The worst of it is, I now won't get the books before my vacation, and I wanted to wrap them up in a bow, leave them in front of his door and write a letter from the 'Book Fairy'......now I have to wait!
Moral of the story is.......order from Amazon!!!!!!!! Much quicker and same prices!!!!!!!

Re: Repost from NWR: So disappointed w/Scholastic!
buy.com has free shipping a lot so they are even better than amazon IMO.
I cannot believe the customer service isn't better.

Michele - I should have known better with my past experiences with them and our book fairs (horrible customer service in my opinion)....I just thought for 3 books it would have been better...
Thanks for the tip on buy.com!!!!

I've had a lot of disappointment with Scholastic too.
I'm sorry the 'book fairy's' visit will be delayed. That must be fun for you!
for a good neighbor!!!

Sorry to hear about what happened with scholastic. What company would you recommend me use for my first grade class for next year for book orders?

Are you talking book orders for the kids or for you?

Marni,
Sorry, I should have made myself more clear. I was asking about both. Do you have any suggestions?

Honestly, at my school, the kids use Scholastic regularly through the book order forms. Teachers really like it too, because they earn points based on student orders, which gets them free books for the classroom library. So I guess they are good for that.
I've just had a bad experience with a personal order....and the book fair, forget it. We are almost forced to use them, because they bought out Troll (not sure if Troll still offers incentive programs, but they no longer do book fairs). You may want to check that out!

scholastic keeps sending me books that are way to old for my son -- hes only 13 months -- they call and ask if they can send them for me to try -- I say no and I get them anyway -- I am also fed up with them !
