Repost from NWR. Who saw Jay Leno tonight? They where talking about Bill O'Reilly and they said he was from Levittown and ...

The guest (whats his name.????) said Bill isnt From Levittown he's from Westbury. And then Jay goes but he says hes form Levittown which is a poor neighborhood

i guess compared to where jay leno lives it is poor. people really need to watch what they say i hope he gets a million letters with people telling him off. what an a$%. yes i live in levittown and yes affording a house anywhere on long island can make you poor lol but thats about it

maybe he was talking about when Bill was a child growing up in Levittown. Remember, Levittown was created as affordable housing for those that would not normally be able to afford it. Maybe thats what he was talking about....

While I don't disagree with that statement, I will say when someone is doing a 'live' show, it's not always easy to catch everything before it comes out .. and I'm sure someone somewhere is offended each night by those doing live broadcasts .. these days, most people do try to be 'politically correct' but sometimes people let their opinions get in the way, anyway .. or simply just speak faster than they should.

I responded to this thread on the NWR board .. and like I said there .. 'it can obviously be very easy to say the wrong thing that someone is going to find offensive, while the greater majority of the people just let it go in one ear and right out the other with a mindless laugh.'

But at the same time People (especially those on TV with millions of viewers) Need to not say things they know nothing about. I wonder if he has ever been to Levittown? If he had heard levittown was a poor neighborhood he should have said Levittown is a poor neighborhood from what I hear. which it's not.

Leno is a moron - I have never understood how he got the job. He was funny in standup, but is THE WORST interviewer - it makes me angry to hear the often moronic things he says, it does not surprise me!

I wouldn't send a letter, I would just stop watching his lame show. JMO.

Honestly I never even watch his show. I have always been a Letterman kinda girl. That one night I was watching the news and the Leno came on and I was on LIW (surprise Surprise) So I never changed the channel. I wasn't paying attention until I heard Levittown and I perked up.

ETA: It figures the one time I watch his show I hear that.

Not that anyone cares but, unless Bill O'Reilly has moved in the past few years, he doesn't live in Westbury or Levittown. He lives in Manhasset.

Not saying you didn't hear the part your heard, or that it wasn't wrong of Leno to say what he said .. but could it be that since you didn't hear the whole dialogue you maybe missed out on something??? Maybe Leno was saying how O'Reilly says he's from a poor neighborhood .. so maybe it's O'Reilly who's the Levittown-basher??

Regardless .. I still feel live TV can be difficult .. especially for people who are speaking rather freely .. some are better than others at it .. but everyone will have a slip-up where the wrong thing comes out of their mouth.
