Repost from NWR:How many of you knew right away when u met ur signif. other??

was it a connection straight off the bat and u just 'Knew'..u couldnt stop talking, hanging out from day one??

or was it really slow, filled with some games and did the 'forever' take sometime to grow....

We had instant attraction, but the love and commitment took some time.

I met him in 10th grade so for the first 2-3 months it was more just having fun than anything else. After about 3 months I knew I loved him and wanted to be with him forever... but Lots of 16 year old girls think that SO I guess I don't really count!

We also had an instant attraction...the problem was both of us were in relationships....We started as friends & went on with our prior relationships...After about 1 1/2 years of friendship, we realized that everything we were looking for was in each other....We talked about becoming a couple but both said we were going to 'try it out' & if it did not work, we would end it & go back to being friends....After about a 6 months or so, we realized that we were going to grow old together

I always heard people say that you just know when you meet that person. When i met FH - there was an immediate connection but I was hesitant because I had gotten burned before. However, I knew when I was upset when i had to go home from him that this was somethign special.

We went away for a week about 6 months into our relationship and I did not get bored or need some alone time the whole time i was there and then when we came home I didn't want him to go home. That was when i knew i was going to marry him.

Its just a feeling that I can't explain...and a lot of people ask me. It took another 2 and a half years before we got engaged...but there was never a doubt in my mind that it was going to be him.

I have found that a lot of people who ask a lot of questions when they are with someone about their relationships are the ones that don't work out (break up or divorce). A lot of people think love is all you need but a relationship is WORK and if you feel that your significant other is not doing that for you then its not goign to work....but that has just been my experience with other people.

I kjnew I was going to be with Gary as soon as I saw him. He did not feel the same but that is because he thought I was insane. LOL! It takes him a long time to get to know and trust someone. But for me it was instant. So we started off feeling differently but we came to the same solution.

After hanging out with him for a month we shared our first kiss and I knew from that moment on he was the 'one' for me. We were friends 3 years prior though.

i knew the 1st date.. i was sitting at dinner with him and I said to myself.. im going to marry this man. I told my friends the next day and of course they didn't believe me but here we are.

Well I had a crush on Kevin for a while before he asked me out. I was just about to turn 17, him 18 and neither of us was really thinking about 'forever' yet.

After a few months though, we realized how perfect we were for eachother. We survived the first big fight and then a year away from eachother and just kind of thought 'this is it'

We got engaged four years after we started dating, and will be married a week short of our 6 year anniversary.

I was dating someone else when we met in HS. FH says he knew from the moment he saw me, but just had to wait until it was the right time. We started dating my senior year, and have been together for six years this past August 16.

I knew since I was 16 when we first started to date that we was my soul mate and we were going to be together!!! Its a feeling I just can't describe!!!

I knew within a couple of weeks!!! There are many reasons but the main one was that I had never met such a kind and wonderful person in my whole life!! A little corny but true!!

I knew after a few weeks that something was special... but since I never felt like this before, it took a little extra time to realize what it was... True Love!

He says the moment he met me his insides turned around and he thought 'UH OH!' and he knew.

It took him 9 months to convince me to go on a date, and the moment our lips met, i will never forget it, I went 'UH OH!' and we locked eyes and both felt as if something much bigger took control. We practically started crying. I knew he was the man i was going to spend the rest of my life with.

7 months later he moved in-shortly thereafter we were engaged.

I pretty much knew right away. My parents also said the first time I told them about him (three days after we met --which I NEVER do) they new right away that we would end up getting married.

We met through friends and hung out in the group for a couple of months. We began to hang out just the two of us and we grew closer. He was pursuing me and I didn't realize it! One day he helped me move back into my Mom's house and my stepfather was with him in the basement and asked him what is going on with you two - FI said we are just friends, but i want it to be more. of course my stepfaher told me later what he had said and i started thinking about him in a different way. We talked about our feelings the next day and were serious about a week or two later. (we had to lay low for a bit because a girlfriend of mine was interested in him, he had no interest in her, just me, she was a flavor of the week girl, so I wanted to talk with her before we really started dating - i kept thinking i cannot let this pass by - this is something special, it's different). We fell in love with each other very quickly and started talking about marriage and our future, but we were young and still in college. Here we are 6 years later planning our wedding.

Wow, I haven't told that story in quite a long time :)

We were good friends for a while so I just thought he'd be a friend forever. I didn't realize that you can date your friends! When someone pointed that out it was an A-HA! moment...

I had no idea!!! Not right away at least. We were friends and I seriously only wanted to be friends. But then, he was the greatest friend and the nicest person I had ever met so I started getting feelings and we told eachother how we felt and after a few months I knew he was the one! I just did. We made plans to wait a much longer time to get married but things happen and I couldn't ask for a better time other than now (or 381 days from now)

Same here. But I knew i could fall in love with him when I came down w/ a horrible cold a few weeks into our 'hanging out' and he came over w/ a bag of groceries...orange juice, eggs, chicken soup, etc. and took care of me. :)

We were neighborhood kids (still are), never thought that I would end up with him. I would reject him all the time. Then, I gave in. We were inseparable (sp?). Loved after 3 months or so, I would say.
