repost-- MOB and MOG dresses- what's the deal?

So a couple of months ago, after my dress was settled we starting thinking about MOB/MOG dresses...

Originally I thought they should coordinate with the bridal party-- who are wearing like a sage green.

Then I thought, another accent color I am using is chocolate brown-- my mom really only likes to wear black-- as does FMIL- so, I thought this would be a good compromise.

Ok- so my mom is looking at brown dresses-- but, now that I am thinking of it-- what should the MOG wear? Does it even matter??

Help please..

I have been told that is nicest if the mothers are in complemenary colors. So while green is not a must, if you did shades of brown that works -- looks nicest in the parent photos and makes life easiest for people watching you all go down aisle -- identifies them.
In our case we are thinking of having the mothers in platinum/silver/grey -- they will not match but blend with slight contrast to the Black/Ivory/Red all the others are in.

so they should be in the same family of colors??

I am goign to do brown-- it complements the green best and is dark enough that they still feel good about--

Brown is gorgeous especially elegant because it is not black. We saw some stunning brown lace that I loved! You may want to consider having them dye their shoes though, brown is legendarily hard to match, and if they will be dancing shoes do show.

And, my FMIL was immediately asking me what color she should get so I thought that was the norm too? Who knows?
