repost poll: who is/did pay for your wedding?

sorry if this is too personal of a question, i just heard that many people are paying for it themselves and i was jsut wondering if that was true.

My mom is giving us 10K
My dad is giving us 8K (supposedly, he keeps saying he doesn't have any money when we've asked him for money for vendor deposits)
FH parents are giving us 5K
FH and I are paying the rest (about 8K)

My parents are paying for the reception and my gown. We are paying for the rest. Oh and FILs gave us $1,000 so that will pay for???? NOTHING.

Mostly FH and me, but we are having an e-party this weekend.

Our parents will help with the wedding, but it will definitely be us paying for most.

Me & DH paid for it. My mom gave us a generous gift that we put toward our HM and my gown, and my ILs paid for the RD.

FH & I are paying 100%...We started to save big time right after we got engaged & we have every dime we need for this wedding in our savings account!

My mom however is paying for my dress & all accessories as a gift from my grandma who passed away. My grandma always told her she would pay for that stuff when my wedding day came

Combo of my parents and JT and I. JT's parents did not pay for one single thing.

i hear ya, my dad is acting like its a huge deal paying for our reception.., so we are just going to pay for it ourselves now, just gotta save lots of money, but fh parents are the ones that think we shouldnt have to pay for it and they are chipping in a lot of money, his parents are better than mine about this whole wedding thing, i hate to have to say.

We did, 100%, every penny.

I even paid for my BP's and Moms hair, which I regret.

Although my parents and his parents are giving us some money, it won't even cover our reception costs. Most of the money will be coming from myself and my FH. We're saving like crazy, but prices of things are ridiculous!

My parents are paying for our wedding and FIL's have been extremely generous as well.

We are both very lucky and appreciative!!!

Fh and I bought the bridal party and parents gifts. We also are paying the church fee and our honeymoon..

Its a combination of FH and myself, along with my parents. His parents are just giving an undisclosed amount. dunno how much yet.

FH & I - 100% Not even a penny from anyone... BUT good point about it...We say who, what, when, where & why...anyone tries to give input we say.....I'm sorry...can't hear ya!

ETA: No e-party here either...when we say we're paying for it all...we're paying for it all...dress, dj, reception, video, photo, RD, blah blah blah...


This is what we are doing and it really does cut
out the 'advice' from family.

Its worth it to pay and enjoy the planning process rather than have to argue w/ parents about how they think it should be.

My FH and I are paying for everything except the honeymoon. That is going to be my parent's present to us..
