sorry if this is too personal of a question, i just heard that many people are paying for it themselves and i was jsut wondering if that was true.

my future mother and father inlaw are giving us $10,000 toaward the wedding (that is our gift, though i am sure they will get us some stuff from our registry bc thats how they are:). we are paying for the rest which we hope wont be more than $5,000-$7,000. if it wasn't for their help we would have eloped...

Me and DH paid for our wedding. And we didn't have an Eparty.

The only things we didnt pay for was my dress - mom paid for that
and Our wine favors - Mil paid for that

We are extremely lucky and very grateful that our parents are splitting the cost. They both wanted to give us our wedding! We are paying for favors, BM & GM gifts and we have put down all the deposits for the vendors so far.

Other - combination of my parents, his parents and me and FH! Everyone is contributing different amounts :)

That's pretty much how it was for us. I would say that my parents paid for 75% and my ILs amd DH and I paid the rest.

My father is throwing us an engagement party so whatever we get from that will go towards the wedding...my fiancee and I are paying for the rest.

My mom will likely pay for my dress

My parents are paying the most of the hall, whatever we go over our guarantee, FI and I pick up the cost. FI's parents gave us a cash gift towards the wedding, and we're paying for everything else. We're so lucky for their help, everyday this gets more and more expensive!

My parents- his parents haven't offered a penny... nothing..

They are paying for the rehersal which is very nice of them.... and they are acting like it is this big thing.... huh!

then they have the nerve to comment on how we are not doing the seafood or lobser bar for $20pp.... as if 145 pp without taxes and gratuity are not enough- we are supposed to add $20pp on top of that...

(sorry- i guess i am just a bit annoyed!)

i hear ya, my dad is acting like its a huge deal paying for our reception.., so we are just going to pay for it ourselves now, just gotta save lots of money, but fh parents are the ones that think we shouldnt have to pay for it and they are chipping in a lot of money, his parents are better than mine about this whole wedding thing, i hate to have to say.

We paid for everything except my mom bought my dress with all the accessories and DH's parents paid for our honeymoon. We had a very small wedding so it wasn't so bad.

UGH - that is like FFIL who keeps telling us we should do an extra hour and see how the band/reception hall charges for it. ARGH - I told FH that if FFIL wants to pay for the extra hour then that is one thing (but definitely not the case) otherwise there is NO WAY IN H E L L! (i'm still just waiting for them to cut down their guest list - forget the extra hour crap!)

My FH and I are paying for it all ourselves. My parents threw us a beautiful engagement party and are also paying for my wedding gown....I do know my mom is in the process of planning to throw me a bridal shower which I'm not supposed to know about....hehehe

DH & I paid for our wedding ourselves.

My parents paid for the engagement party, my dress, 1/2 my bridal shower.

My mother-in-law paid for 1/2 my bridal shower and the rehersal dinner. Oh and my earings!

FH & I - 100% Not even a penny from anyone... BUT good point about it...We say who, what, when, where & why...anyone tries to give input we say.....I'm sorry...can't hear ya!

ETA: No e-party here either...when we say we're paying for it all...we're paying for it all...dress, dj, reception, video, photo, RD, blah blah blah...

weddings in LI are really too expensive for everyone not to chip in.

In other areas, you can literally have a wedding for 150 for what it would cost to have 50 people attend in LI.

for me each side is paying, and myself.

need to have an other category ... we're paying 16k of it, mom is paying 5k, dad paying 4k...a lot of money no matter how you slice it!!

my parents are giving us 20k + the dress andrews parents are giving us 10k in british pounds so i guess it depends on the exchange rate at the time. Anything extra we are doing ourselves.

My parents are paying for the majority (75%) of it and what they are not paying for we will pay for. His parents both passed away but his family is throwing the rehersal dinner.
