repost poll: who is/did pay for your wedding?

sorry if this is too personal of a question, i just heard that many people are paying for it themselves and i was jsut wondering if that was true.

Other - combination of my parents, his parents and me and FH! Everyone is contributing different amounts :)

Oh it's absolutely true! My DH and I paid for it 110% without ANY help...

Congrats to you on being lucky if your families are helping!

Me and my FH are paying half, his parents 1/4 and my parents 1/4.

We were very lucky...our parents split it completely.

Of course, along with that comes giving up some of our control about the decisions...

Me & Michael paid for our wedding.

My mom is paying for my gown and my Bridal shower...and I am so grateful!
Michael's family is paying for the rehearsal dinner.

Mostly, me and DH. My parents more than DH's parents. I would say the % broke down like this:

Me and DH 60%
My Parents 35%
His parents 5%

We're paying for our entire wedding (except FIL's are paying for band).

This is, however, my 2nd marriage.

my parents are paying for the majority- the reception, tipping, gown, veil, my shower, extras like unity candles and things like that...

fh's parents are paying for band,photo,limos, flowers

we are paying for video, stds, favors, invites, honeymoon..other extras

we paid for everything. except my dad paid for my dress

we are paying for it ourselves. but any checks we recieve as gifts I put it right into the wedding fund. So although we are paying for it, we do get help from gifts.

My FH and I just had our an engagement party last saturday. We made about a $1,000 in cash, checks, and gift certificates. We only had a 40 people and the party cost us about $300 bucks. It gave us enough to pay for the hall.
