If you are not getting married on a holiday weekend or having a destination wedding, how important is it to send out STD's? Up until a few years ago, this wasn't the thing to do. It almost seems like a silly waste of money unless you really need people to make arrangments for that date. I am thinking I could put that money towards something more useful.
That do you all think?

your wedding is in the fall around a time that most people don't go on vacation...
i sent them out because i had a summer wedding..
i dont think its necessary..
on a side note.. if you decide too, check out vistaprint.com. they run specials all the time so you can get a great deal on postcards that you can send out.. cheaper, easy and postage is not expensive..

my FH really wanted them...most of our friends have them so he has seen them and just loved the idea...We took engagement pictures with our photographer and figured we could 'show those off' by making up some STD... we only spent about 135 for 250 of them from magnetstreet and they have our picture on them
i am not sending them out alone instead i will send them out when i send out my thank you cards from my eparty which is this december so it is not like i am spending on postage for them...
i am glad i had them made up i love them and $135 really is not much money that it really does not effect our budget in the long run....
but it is something that is not needed at all so if you do not want them that is your call

In the end it is a waste of money. I sent them out and I still had people go 'duh, I planned something' Your close family and friends will remember, just make sure to convey the date to them via word of mouth or email.

We didnt send them out and all those people that we invited came-there were of course no's but they were people we really only invited out of respect and knew that they would be no's. I dont think its that important-its just a nice touch
