Are your companies making any special arrangements for employees during the convention?
Do you have an arrangement with friends/family in the city, should we need to get out?
Just want to make sure everyone is safe

Re: Republican Convention
It's business as usual at my company. We do have a security/evacuation plan in place which will be distributed again to remind everyone.
My sister, friend & I have our own get out of town plan since the black out - meeting places, extra sneakers, water bottle & power bar, etc.
We have meeting places close to my office (33rd street) or hers (53rd) with places for DH's to meet us in queens or brooklyn depending on where we have to walk to.
ETA - thanks Don for checking on everyone.
And if anyone needs a walking buddy from midtown to queens, lmk.

Re: Republican Convention
We have been working on this for months already. We are moving 90% of our employees out of the 34th Street location to either Long Island or New Jersey. We will be shutting down one of our retail branches located in Penn Plaza.
For our downtown locations we have handed out evacuation plans and created a website giving alternate transportation options.
We have alternate transportation plans in place in the event something happens to the subway or the trains.
We're pretty well covered.
On a personal note, I am working from LI that week and not venturing in : ).

Re: Republican Convention
Convention is Aug 30-Sept 2
Company is encouraging people who have to travel through Penn to take vacation that week. In addition, that Monday my group will decide if we need to rotate coming in. I.E. come in one of the remaining 4 days and have the rest off with consquence.
As for evactuations, I have to speak to FH and FMIL about that. Last time (blackout) FH was near me but I didn't know it and went to FMIL's job to get her. Ended up taking 2 hours too long to get home, should have had FMIL walk to me to get FH. I just didn't know where he was at the time.

Re: Republican Convention
BIL works in a hotel, so if he has to he can stay there....as far as evacuation, he has a plan w/one of his co-workers who lives in Jersey. for some reason he thinks it might be easier to get to jersey than to LI.....
DH & I both work on LI (for now).

Re: Republican Convention
I work in Chelsea- so I hope we aren't effected.
I'll be bringing in change of clothes, sneakers, emergency stuff like that- extra cash, etc.
I'll be taking the ferry in, instead of the Path- so hopefully that will help a little.
I'm also having my IT dude set up my laptop so I can get emails from home.

Re: Republican Convention
haha- our boss comes in from Maine a few days a week, I Doubt he is concerned eve thoguh we are just 6 blocks from MSG He wasn't here for the blackout either.
My mom gave me an emergency kit, I should really add onto.
FFIL always says I can meet up with him ( near Lincoln Center) & he'll drive up to Westhcester, but I can never get in touch with him. I'll have to make sure he takes his cell phone that week!
I do plan to avoid the 1/9 trains, ( my usual train) since they stop at Penn Station & will probably be mobbed/slow.
ETA- Dad's taking vacation since he was going to the week after anyway. He comes in through Penn. FH works in Westchester.

Re: Republican Convention
Fh and I need to have a sit down about possible evac routes. Other than posting links to the MTA website on the intranet home page here... my employer has done nothing about the convention.

Christine - where are your meeting places with DH in Brooklyn and Queens? FH and I are trying to come up with a plan and don't know what would be the best place to meet if he had to walk back from NYC. Thanks.

Re: Republican Convention
My brother is in the Terrorist Interdiction Unit of the NYPD. They don't think that any terrorist related activity will occur - it's the protestors that are causing the shutdown.
