resonable?

resonable?

I just got a quote from a bridal store in merrick for 35$ to order a sample of a gown I want to try on. It's like my dream dress and I cannot even think of anything else, till I get to try this one on. 35$ is very reasonable right? And If I hate it I'm only out 35$. It seems like a small price to pay to see if this gown looks like the one when it's on MY body. I really won't be able to think about another gown till I try this one on and see what it looks like.

Sorry, I don't think it's reasonable. I don't think places should charge you to bring a sample in. Have you called around? See who else might carry it or bring it in for you?

If you wind up buying it can the put the $35 dollars twords the cost of the dress?

Why don't you first call some other salons to see if they already carry a sample of that gown? And if you do decide to order the sample, can your $35 be applied to the price of the gown if you decide to buy it?

Why should you have to pay for that? They are supposed to have samples, that is why they are a bridal salon. It is not a huge amount of money but I defintely see a problem with their policy. Is that the only store that carries your dress that you can get to?

Yes, I can apply it towards the dress.
I know davids does not have it, I will not go back to that place in centereach. Bayshore quoted me 200$ to order the dress. I have not tried the 2 places in patchouge, I'll prolly call them now. I won't go to massepequa, after that horror story!

Re: resonable?

OMG I just found a place right in Shoreham that will get the dress in for me. I still have to pay the 35$ fee though. From calling a bunch of places come to find out that that kind of fee is normal, all the places I called do that. But at this point, 35$ seems like a small price to pay for this gown...to see it and try it on. It's also not a currnet style, so it's CHEAP! less than 500$!!!!!!!!!! And the sample they may be able to get in my size so I would not have to order it...if it fits than I can buy the one they get....OK I think I'm getting too ahead of myself here....breathe....

You are too cute!!! I say go for it. As long as you can apply it towards the purchase price, it's definitely worth it. And if you should for some reason wind up not getting it, I think the $35 is worth the peace of mind of knowing you didn't buy a dress you wound up not liking.

LOL thanks!
I see at a piece of mind that I tried on the dream dress and can stop thining about it if I end up hating how it looks on me. Then I can move on after that in that case. But I don't think I'll hate it! I saw a big pic today when I went to order the sample, and it's even nicer than I thought! Plus the lady Joan there was so nice. It was Bridal and Tuxedo Center in Shoreham. And it's right down the road from me..like 5 min away!

If it were me, I would pay the $35. When I was looking for a dress, I found the one I ended up getting but was afraid to order it so kept looking. I went to one place that gave me a different dress by a different manufacturer but the same kind of style and it looked horrible on me. That's when I knew I was getting my dress.

$35 isn't tremendous amount of money, it may be worth it for 'the dress'.
I looked everywhere for my 'dream dress'. The salon I went to actually borrowed a sample from another store for me. When I tried it on, it just wasn't right on me. Oh well, at least I saw it!
I'd say it's $35 well spent.

I think you should do it - haven't you spent $35 on other crap and thought why did I do that??
Where in Merrick is it??
I work in Merrick at my mom's house!!

Re: resonable?

Yeah thats so true...I can think of many times I blew more than 35$ on BS type of stuff.

Well the place in Merrick was Moonlight Couture...I'm not sure of the address...
But YAY I don't have to drive all the way out there now, this other place is 5 min from my house. That would have been 35$ and gas money too...plus the annoying-ness (my own made up word...I do that sometimes!)of having to drive to merrick from the east end.
Nothing against Merrick darly but I just don't wanna have to drive that far.
I can't wait till it comes in and I can finally try it on!
