Restaurant/cafe in Astoria

What is your favorite? Can any of you recommend any? I prefer that it has some sort of outside seating as well, but if not thats fine...all I care about is good food and service...thanks!

Re: Restaurant/cafe in Astoria

Sylvia, ask me all you want.

IMO the best greek restaurant is Taverna Kyclades by Top tomato-ask for Kostas the owner, he will hook you up....

Stamatis restaurant in great also (with outside seating) with good food but more on the oily side....

There is also Sagapo (which means I love you) that has great fish & grilled stuff

Cavo you know, it is not really Greek, they are trying to do Fusion food & pretend they are in the city....

Central is better than Cavo (food) but also pretty expensive ....

oh, and don't expect good service in a greek restaurant - they all suck.....LOL....

Mezzo Mezzo does not have 'real' outside area. they have an upstairs part to the restaurant to accommodate private parties.

Kyclades is very small, so I don't think it would be right for a shower, as good as it is.

for TRUE outdoor area and seating, Cavo may be the way to go...BUT are they open during the day. I always go at night...then there is the cost..your poor MAMA! LOL

oh pierogies..YUM!

Re: Restaurant/cafe in Astoria

Sylvia, the shower at Cavo would cost you about $50-$60 per person with little food. Not worth it....Mezzo wants about $45....still not worth it....

check out Polonaise Terrace in Greenpoint, they want about $30 per person for a shower....it's a nice place...

Syl...I just had my shower at Ammos...it's next to Central (same owners) food was amazing and definitely the best service of all the Greek restaurants in Astoria. No outside seating though. I also love Zenon (again, no outside seating) and Cavo.

Re: Restaurant/cafe in Astoria

hey sylvia....
i am not sure if this is what you are going for, but my FH and i luv Galini's in astoria on 34th street and 36th ave. It is our fave restaurant. We had our engagement dinner there... price is very good...about 40 per person with wine, appetizer, steak, chicken or salmon. Very big on the inside, no outdoor seating.
