Restaurant Job?

Restaurant Job?

SO again, FH is without a job. He hasn't worked since September. While I am not working either, because of family situations, it is starting to annoy me that FH hasn't found a job. He's been on interviews and trials but nothing! He isn't as involved as i think he should be in looking for one and I am getting so PIS SED off with him!!! He needs to take whatever at this point, whether is a cook position or not. We need to be able to save for this wedding. So if any of you know of a position in a kitchen please let me know.

We both live in Queens. We're (mostly me) on it all the time but nothing has really come of it.

I work at a retaurant in Freeport on Friday nights and I have been there forever. I will definitely find out if my boss needs anyone and if not I'll keep my ears open. Good luck!

If he goes to a chain they should be able to hire him. I mean it is by no means what it sounds like he wants to do, but like i say.....better to making something doing what you don't want to than nothing at all!!!!!!

If i hear anything i'll keep you in mind!!!!!

Thanks, he's been to a bunch of them. He went into Manhattan and went to Olive Garden, Planet Hollywood, Jekyll and Hyde and also went to Unos, Applebees, Outback Steakhouse... and so on.. and nothing.

just be patient... its really hard now-a-days to just go and get a job.. my dad a few years ago.. lost his job and he was out of work for a year and a half.. and he was REALLLY looking went on tons of interviews and they told him the reason he wasnt getting the job was that he was 50 and had too much experience.. thats bologna... but it is what it is ya know.. he will find something!.. tell him to check the gov't website for jobs.. tilde posted it yesterday!

Re: Restaurant Job?

i know it may sound silly.. but home depot pays really well... try there

Re: Restaurant Job?

I actually told him about home depot yesterday. I try to tell him to get any job right now. A retail job would be best for him because in 3 months he has to do an externship with his school for his certification. Then we he graduated (in June), the school supposedly helps them find a job.

Argh... something similar happened to me and FH!! What pissed me off more than anything (yes, besides paying for everything!) was the whining! He really needed benefits. I worked at Starbucks at the time and they offer part time benefits and flexible schedule. I was just like please just get a job and continue with your search. Eventually everything worked out though. He got a job at a bank and thought this was going to be his 'I'm still searching for a real job' job but he actually has been moving up.

Maybe he can find a job that's close to his related field like my FH and grow from there?

Re: Restaurant Job?

I think hes better off going to a recruiter. When you send resumes online especially when you find it off of craigs list or monster.com, people don't even actually check the resumes. When they receive the email it is scanned, basically they have 'keywords' they are looking for and if those words are not in the resume then they wont even look at it. Also, there are hundreds of people applying for one job on listings like craigs list. It takes forever.

I was applying for jobs in the summer, and I went to a recruiter and I actually got a job the next day. Funny thing is that about 2 months later I started getting email regarding the jobs I applied for.

If you want I will give you the name of the recruiter, she is very good.

he can try a temp agency too. I think you give them your availability and they'll find a job around that. I think come january it'll be much easier for him to find a job. No one leaves their jobs right before christmas, it's bonus time!

Re: Restaurant Job?

Yeah this place also has temp jobs available. If it takes them longer to find you a job, you can do temp jobs in the meanwhile
