restaurant vent - kinda long

restaurant vent - kinda long

FH and I went to the Harbor Crab Company in Patchogue tonight for dinner. We had intentions of talking with the manager afterwards to discuss having our rehearsal dinner there.

We will not be having our RD there.

The dinner - Service was not the greatest, the food seemed to take longer than it should have. I ended up being charged $7.50 for diet coke because they do not give free refills. My bun on my burger was on the stale side.

We still talked to the manager after, got a pamphlet with prices and whatnot. I asked about the tiki bar area that they have, expressing my interest to have it in that area. The manager's response:

'On, definitely not. We don't close that area off in the summer for private parties. blah blah blah.' I understand that that's a big money maker... but seriously come on. Closing that area down for 3 hours, maybe 6-9 pm on a wednesday evening.... how much can you really lose when you'd be charging us $28 per person....

Anyone have any other ideas for a RD? I really wanted something on the south shore right on the water with a laid back feel.

try captain bills in bayshore. my wedding was there, my brothers RD was also there a few yrs ago. Its on the water, and the food is great. i also went to a really nice RD this past summer at Nico (The Gatsby in Islip).
Look into the Irish Coffee Pub too, that place is great, and the food is really good.

Captain Bill's, Molly Malone's or Fat Fish in Bay Shore
Riverview or Snapper Inn in Oakdale
Cull House in Sayville
The Oar in Patchogue

You could also look into the Off Key Tikki in Patchogue. I have no idea if they do private parties, but it sounds like a place you might be interested in.
