The Flying Fishbone you eat right on the beach

Is this the one at the Marriott?? We had dinner on the beach w/ the sunset it was so beautiful

No the Flying Fishbone is a trip. If you don't rent a car i don't think its worth the cab fare. There is one in Marriot too. Its right on the beach as well. I did not go though because i had issues with mosquitos that whole weekend.

And yes NYLisa is right the place we loved was AquaGrill in front of the HYATT. Great service, food and wine.

Also just a tip...we did the jeep tour and did not have a fun time. We were with two other people and we had to drive the jeep ourselves!!! I would of much rather did the ATV tour. We saw them on the way back and they had so many people and it looked like so much fun.

Also the drinking bus is such a blast. They give you dinner and bring you to three bars. Everyone gets smashed and we met so many people on that trip. We even went out to dinner another night with one of the couples.

El Gaucho for steaks is the best and seafood is the Driftwood. It's sort of off the main strip but it was reccomended that I go there for the Mahi Mahi. We loved it!!!

If you're looking for excursions - the jeep got a lot of bad reviews and they break down a lot along the way! I did horse back riding because I love horses and it was great! Make sure you go on a good day because we did not get to go in the natural pool. Also If you like snorkling you have to go on the Jolly Pirates! The guys are a trip and we had soooo much fun w/ them and you go to 3 different snorkling spots and then get to jump like tarzan off the ship into the ocean!!!!

we also ate at el gaucho - it was ok- but I was told Amazonia is MUCH better for steak - its right next door to the aqua grill- I wish I knew that before hand
flying fishbone yes is a hike- if your renting a jeep / car its easy to find and ahhhhhhh delicious and what a view!

Azul in the wydham also does beachfront dining about 100 feet from the ocean-

chez mathilde and le dome were outstanding.

Pago pago in wydham also great.
Aqua Grill- eh its like being in freeport- If Im away I want something different.
Sunset Grill- yummy and the radisson is soooo nice!
chalet suisse- was empty all the time- we took that road back to the hotel every night.

You HAVE to rent a jeep and do the tours yourself and save lots of $$$$$- the catamaran snorkle tour- brings you to an area where you can drive to and snorkel yourself- thats what we did its on the road to the lighthouse you will see people snorkeling there- the natural pool and natural bridge we did on our own too- we followed a jeep safari tour to the natural pool- what a crazy ride you need a jeep for that though and what fun your DH will have driving the mountain- be prepared though its a BUMPY and ROUGH ride but so worth it!- it is cheap we got a jimmy for 290 for 10 days. the jeep wranglers are 500+ and the jimmy did the exact same thing. the best part of doing the tours yourself is you can do what you want- the tour to the natural pool- it takes time to get there and they were only there for 1/2 hour r u kidding me- my DH said its a good thing we didnt pay for these tours what a rip off!!!!
the hyatt also does a beachfront dining just the 2 of you for 250.00 we didnt do that we did the azul instead and flying fishbones.

when driving around town watch out for all the stray dogs- its depressing, there is soooooo much to do on your own- oh the tour to baby beach what a joke that is too- they bring you there for 1/2- 45 minutes!!!! we went there everyday to lie out b/c you will see by the hotels its a bit windy and annoying getting sand on you all the time so we drove down to baby beach everyday and bring your snorkel gear and bread ( supermarkets everywhere) to feed the fish- wait till you snorkel over there! amazing fish - and bring your license 1 of you and 5 each for the chair rentals- worth it and they have beer too-
oh the only tour we did was to palm island- its pretty cool- the fish are HUGE and pretty and if you go walk all the way down pass the eating area and grab yourself a hut for 2 facing the beach! there is 1 that is private too! we loved loved it there! our friends just came back they stayed at the wyndham and loved it too- beth halloway is staying in the wyndham now too- so press will be over on that end Im sure.

Re: Restaurants in Aruba

I miss Aruba!! We got back from there just this time last week.

We did the DePalm Island half day tour and loved it. I had never been snorkeling before and it was a great 'first time' experience.

It all depends on what you are looking for but DH and I loved our guided Jeep tour.. We did ABC Tours and it did the Ostrich Farm, Old Gold Mine, Natural Bridge and Natural Pool. Yes you are less in control when you are with a group but for us we didn't want to have to worry about finding our way/getting lost etc. It was so fun and driving to the Natural Pool scared the living daylights out of me....

My Favorite Dinners While we were there
Blossoms
Pirates Nest Dinner on the Beach (at our hotel)
El Gaucho
Flying Fishbone
La Fondue
We went to one of our friends destination weddings while we were there (Night before dinner- Wyndham and Wedding- Hyatt) We stayed in the low rise area, but it was nice to get to visit some of the other hotels.

The wind is always blowing no matter where you are on the island. We would sit on the beach and get pelted with sand. We found the wind to be better on the east end of the island especially when we went to Baby Beach and to eat at the Flying Fishbone.

I too would reccomend renting a car. It was so cheap and you have the freedom to go where you want when you want to. But, driving there is a little tricky since most of the roads are not marked. It made for quite an adventure.

Re: Restaurants in Aruba

No way- it is such a small island you CANNOT get LOST!!!!- they give you a map and there are signs- it is so freakin easy!!!!!
yea the sand is annoying and b/c you are wearing sun tan lotion, it sticks to you- we couldnt take it after day 2 and thats when we said hey lets check out baby beach and LOVED it!!!! you can walk out 300 feet plus and the water is still only waist high- and the color- OMG- and then on the other side of baby beach is a hidden area- you have to go over there , we snorkeled in there but I wouldnt advise it - very rocky and slippery but I have to say that was the first snorkeling I saw aqua and yellow coral , if you are daring do it- but def get those water shoes ( modells 10 bucks) you also see so many different color shells in the rocks and eels in the rocks- you walk on the rocks and the water is in between them- it is sooo cool.
Yes the ride to the natural pool- scared me too but so worth it and again bring your snorkel gear with you 24-7! the map is tricky for the natural pool- follow the conch or conchie signs- we didnt know that till we saw the tour and followed them and as another poster said- yup 1 of the jeeps broke down- what a PIA!!! we did everything on the map/sight seeing except for the gold mines- couldnt find that- and the tunnel of love- ha DH went in - not me- its a cave with bats and big roaches he said and pitch black- when they put a flashlight around my neck and gave DH a huge flashlight with a battery pack I was like what the heck and when we started to walk and go down I said no way and turned around- it takes about 20 minutes and he said it was SUPER hot in there too- he said he could have done without it- oh and go to the Vista Chapel- so beautiful!!! oooooo I wanna go back we know that island by the back of our hand- thats why is was so frustrating we couldnt find 1 thing. photo to develop super cheap 8.99 no tax and they do it in 20 minutes!!! In the divi all inclusive resort by alhambra casino- you cant miss it! again I cant stress how easy it is to get around the island!!!!!! if you need anything just let me know- we were all over the place!
