Re: retin-a
its been brought up a couple of times on here, and MANY of us had a horrible experience with it. Retin-A seems to be the first thing a derm describes, and they always end up giving you other stuff though after the first few appointments. Retin-A BURNED my skin. It turned so red and was so sensitive and sore. It hurt so much to even shower bc when water would even touch my face it would hurt like a biotch.
However, i did hear they came out with a milder version. Someone on here mentioned this once. So check the percentage of the retin-a. Otherwise most ppl i know who have taken it had the same experience

I should of added I had an irritation to it but it did get rid of the marks. This was roughly 12 years ago and I do think it's milder now. Don't quote me on this but I think you are supposed to stay out of direct sun with it.

yes you are supposed to. When i took retin-a is when i was against tanning and hadn't gone to the beach in 3 or 4 years and was pale and stayed away from the sun so it wasn't because of that. Only more recently theres a milder version but even now many derms still give the other retin-a.

Re: retin-a
My dermatologist prescribed it several months ago after I went to see her for a scar that I had on my face. My advice to you is AVOID WAXING the facial area (eyebrows, upper lip etc) , if you are accustomed to do so. If you do, you may experience skin lifting and it is extremely painful.

Re: retin-a
it removes dead layers of skin....also if you are planning on getting prego anytime soon dont use it ...it can cause birth defects

she told me to use 1/2 a pea size blend it with moisturizer and be very careful not to use too much. I'll pick it up later but probably won't start until next week. (got to get that last eyebrow wax in!)
she was really young and had amazing skin; said she used it for nine years but really carefully and people have different reactions to it. I guess i'll see. she wasn't even going to prescribe it at first until i told her i was unhappy with my skin and the way it was acting up lately. but if it really screws it up i will definitely stop using it.

i have sensitive skin so maybe thats why. But yeah just monitor your skin and anything you notice that you don't like just go to them right away

I used in many years ago and all I really remember is that my skin reacted to it very badly.

Re: retin-a
It has worked wonders on my skin, I use it now....I used to use it as a teenager but it didn't seem to work, but my dermatologist prescribed a face wash called rosula to use with it, and using both of them together really improved my skin..

Re: retin-a
Tazorac was the best thing to ever happen to my skin.
I used to have serious cystic breakouts with my cycle.
For the first 3 months, my skin was terribly, painfully dry. I read reviews though and learned that this was very common, so I chose to stick it out.
It was such a great decision.
FM me if you want more information, I've been on it for a year and a half with very little future complication.

Re: retin-a
this was a disasterous treatment for me. My whole face swelled up, turned bright red, got crusty then peeled off. It was awful. I dont know if I was allergic (i have no other allergies) or what but I dont want to be in the room with it again.

Re: retin-a
YEP! Happened to me.
My face literally fell off in the middle of an interview.
My face burned, stung, gave me minor rashes.
But 3 months after I started it, everything cleared up.
I have barely broken out since then, and I used to have cytsic acne.
So I'm a huge fan and for me, it was worth the few months of horror
