Have any of you second-guessed things? Your reception hall, dress, vendors? To all of you already married, was there anything you'd do different? Spend less/more money on? Be wary of?

Re: Retrospect
I'm second guessing my church. We are Catholic, but not very reliogis, dn't go to church, but i figured I was 'supposed to' get married in a Catholic church. the whoel thing makes me uncomfortable, since now I find out msot people wouldn' have cared if we went with a Presbyterian church.
We are going to Mass next week to see how it goes, but I don't think I can get out of it if I change my mind. I well I gues I could, but I'd feel awful, and wouldn't have the nerve.
So, I've learned to go with my gut & not what I think is expected of me & I'll try to apply that to the rest of the planning.

Re: Retrospect
yes i am second guessing everything. (everything but the fiance ) but i've been told to just do it and stick with it and stop looking (you can apply this to anything!) as for your church crisis...if you don't want to get married in a church. don't. there's no reason to do it just to do it. this is coming from someone who goes to church regularly and is looking forward to being married in church.

Re: Retrospect
Hey we are date twins!! And yes, I have second guessed alot of my decisions. My reception site, my photographer, the size of my BP. But I have faith that everything will work out. I do ALOT of research before I book a vendor and it's so funny because the only decision I have not 2nd guessed is my DJ and I booked the first one I met with!!!

Re: Retrospect
Great question!
I'm already second-guessing everything and I just got started!! Not so much which vendors I'm using, just the entire wedding planning process.
I want to be married more than anything in the world .. and I love my FH to death .. that part is soo easy. But sometimes I wish we just hopped a flight to Vegas and got married by Elvis! LOL!!
While I wanted a nice wedding and all that goes with it, sometimes i think all this money could have best been used in other ways .. (buying a house, saving, etc..) This could be my 'too practical' side showing, and the fact that 'm a little older now.. also I do want to have a family soon.
Overall, sometimes I just feel overwhelmed! But I know in the end I'll be glad I did it!!!

Felicia I feel the same way that you do. In the end I know I'll be glad we planned this type of wedding, but my practical side sometimes thinks the $$$ we are spending is insane.
I also think it is a LI mentality to spend like this on a wedding and it is ingrained to do so.

I have second guessed everything! I'm sure it's normal. Partly nerves, partly the fact that there are so many good choices out there. I agree, stop looking, trust your judgement. Don't stress over minutia (sp?) and perfection. I will let you know after 4/16 if I have any true regrets!

Hey Nferrandi,
I didn't even realize you had the same date as Jimmy's Bride & me.
As for my church thing, I do want to get married in a church, I've just always been intimadted by the Catholic church ( even though i went to a Catholic University-adnwent to mass there!)
I am defitinly not second guessing my hall- it is perfect of us-- we didn't want a wedding-y wedding.

Re: Retrospect
There were times I did second guess, but it was after my wedding. Although my wedding was wonderful, when I would go to other friends' weddings, I'd see things I wished I would have done or thought of. Looking back now (I am married a long time - mother of the groom), I realize that what I originally selected was from my heart and was perfect for me and my husband.

Re: Retrospect
The really big thing I second-guessed was my reception. I absolutely LOVE The Crescent and I can't wait to get married there, but it was really expensive and I started thinking maybe I coud have found something just as nice that wasn't as pricey. I went to 15 places before booking and this was the only one I loved. Now that the money is down I feel better about it because there's no backing out now. I made an appointment for next Sunday to go back to Kleinfeld's to get the dress I tried on 2 months ago! I loved it but wanted to make sure there was nothing better out there, now I'm just praying they still have my dress. I need to stop thinking so much and go with my instincts. I'm usually a fairly decisive person, but all this wedding planning is making me question myself sometimes.

Re: Retrospect
I'm definitely second-guessing my dress - it's beautiful but not at all what I imagined - I impulsively bought it (under pressure from my mom & sister) after only going to one place (Kleinfelds). I think I felt so demoralized by being too short and chubby for some dresses, and since this was the most flattering of the bunch, I just did it. It's already ordered and everything and I know it's just because I don't look right in big flowing dresses, but it hurt not to get the dress I envisioned. I'm pretty over it now, and I'm planning on losing 25 lbs before the wedding in June to make myself feel better, but that's the only second guessing I've suffered.
