Review of Wedding I went to... (LONG POST)

I went to a wedding this past Saturday night at a reception hall in Nassau County located on 25. To start, they had Body Rock as their DJ company. The bride & groom wanted a 'highly involved' MC. If that is something you prefer, this MC Adam was awesome! He danced, had a great personality, handed out give aways, and was funny! I thought he & the DJ were great (if that is the atmosphere you are looking for). The dance floor was packed all night!

Their photographer was Deja VU . The groom was very pleased the day of with them. The bride & groom made it to their entire cocktail hour!

I am not saying the name of the catering hall on this post. Please feel free to FM me & I will share it with you. I have been to a wedding before at this place & that wedding was fabulous. So you can't go by just one review. This wedding was so-so. To start on a positive note, the cocktail hour was great. It was outside and the food was delicious! Even though it gets darker earlier, the lights came on & it was nicely light up during the second part of cocktail hour.

They had a smaller wedding, so we were in the smaller room of the hall. The room was very pretty. She had chair covers with red sashes to match her BM dresses & CP. A minor fault of the room, there is no bar in the room. So by the end of the party, most people were across the hall in the room where the bar was & the room was empty!

There were 3 courses before dinner, all good. I ordered Filet Migon & FH ordered lamb chops. My dinner came, I'm eating, & all of a sudden, I find two pieces of JET BLACK hair on my plate. GROSS! I didn't want to make a scene & upset the bride, I quietly called over the waiter & gave it back. He brought me the chicken dish but my appetite was shot by then.

So then, my FH goes out of the room to get a drink during dinner. While he was gone, the waiter removed his dinner plate. Mind you, I was too busy socializing with my table about my dinner disaster to realize they removed his dinner plate. MY FH returns upset, asking where his dinner was. P.S. He only took three bites. He was still hungry & his food was gone. I felt so bad! The waiter never asked me if he was done & you should NEVER just take someone's food if they are away from the table. Don't just assume! So we called the waiter over to explain the situation. We order him another order of lamb chops. 10 minutes passes, the waiter returns - no more lamb chops. Fine, FH orders steak. 10 more minutes pass (at this time everyone is done eating & all plates are getting removed from the table) and the waiter says the kitchen is closed & no more food was left. He said he might have 1 dish left over from the OTHER wedding. FH was hungry & said fine. Now as coffee cups & milk/sugar are being put on the tables, a plate of food comes from the other wedding. This chicken choice wasn't even on our menu. FH said it was disgusting, tasted like ketchup on chicken with onions.

The rest of the evening was fine. We danced & had dessert. I know you can't hold the place responsible it was more of a service issue. However, the place is responsible for training their servers better. Sorry for the long post. I am not a critical person & I just was very disappointed with our dinner experience at this particular hall. I know a bunch of brides are getting married here & I don't want to just post a blanket negative review about this hall, so please FM me if interested. Like I said earlier, I went to a wedding there in October & it was
GREAT!

i'm so glad to hear that body rock and de ja vu were good. we are using both vendors and i haven't heard a review of de ja vu.

its funny b/c adam was the mc at my sisters wedding at the beginning of the month and everybody loved him.

funny story though, he was allll over the dance floor with the mic, totally involved in the wedding. come to find out the next day, my sister and bil asked for 'moderatley involved.' do you think they read that part of the survey??
