I think I am booking my reception hall this weekend if everything goes well! From last Monday until today we looked at 12 places.....tiring. This first place we looked at ..The Swan Club..lOVED!!! and the price is sooo good. we actually like all the other places but none were as good as the swan club (FH really likes the grounds). We saw the glen cove mansion, crescent beach club, north ritz club, riviera, flowerfields, land's end, garden city hotel, roslyn-claremont hotel, and the venetian yacht club. THE ONE THAT STOOD OUT THE MOST WAS THE WOODLANDS. The price is a little more than we wanted but I LOVED IT. I really did love the swan cub also...that is what it is between...I would be so happy with both....it really depends on waht makes sense financially..It is sooooo hard for us to say we should spend 10,000 more on a wedding than the other when we think that the money could go to putting a down payment on a house...Is anyone thinking this way??? or do most of you feel it is one day and we should go all out?

Re: RH

I went with a hall I liked and gave me a good deal. I am the type of person that wants to save and use the money else where. If you have the money then do it but, if you dont think about it and maybe make a pro/con list to help you.

I totally relate to the money and house situation. It does seem silly to spend that much on one day when you can have a lifetime together in a beautiful house. Is the Woodlands the place you really really want? Can you talk to them about maybe lowering the price or maybe picking a less expensive day? Good luck with the hall shopping!!

join the swannie club!!!!!!!! it was the only RH i looked at and everytime ive gone back, i fall in love all over again!

i too cannot justify spending a ton of $$ on the wedding so we went with an aug sunday afternoon wedding! and as u know SC's prices are just incredible!

I really do like both...but if it had nothing to do with money I like the WOODLANDS a lot. FH tried to call today to talk to her about the price and (she is soooo nice) she said she would try to work something out and calls us back WEDS. I am crossing my fingers..he is really good at negotiating so hopefully his charm works.

It depends if you like Woodlands much better than the Swan Club. If you do, you can try to cut the cost of other things or negotiate. If you like it only slightly more, i think you are better off going with the swan club, It is gorgeous!
