I was curious approximately how long your appointments ran when you were looking at reception halls? I have a list of places I want to see when I head back to LI for my Spring break and I was wondering how far apart I should space my appointments. Thanks so much!!!

Re: RH appointments
Every place was different. I would give yourself approx an hour. Some places only took 20 minutes but other places read you the menu from start to finish & give you a tour which usually takes up alot of time!
Good luck in your search

Re: RH appointments
I agree with Kerri, we went to a few where we basically got the quick tour and knew it wasn't for us, so were out in 20 mins. Our two favorites we stayed about an hour or so. And then Bellport CC we went back like 5 times before booking.
Good luck! FH and I had a phrase, if we didnt like the place we would say it so we both knew to leave but we weren't rude. It was something dumb like 'my mom just text me' But it worked!
Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Re: RH appointments
We tended to ask a lot of questions so most of our appts went over an hour, I would leave yourself an hour and half between appts, more to account for travel time if they are far apart and you are booking appt back to back!
Good luck in your search! Where are you going to look??

Good luck in your search! Where are you going to look??
My top 5 are Fox Hollow, Milleridge Cottage, Jericho Terrace, Westbury Manor, and Larkfield Manor
I'm also interested in Bridgeview Yacht club, Waterview club, Old Field Club, Land's End and Chateau Le Mer....but some of those are far from my church so I don't know if I will book an appointment or not.

Re: RH appointments
About an hour, except at Windows on the Lake where the guy could not stop himself from self promoting his company for video/photo/limo etc.
Have fun with it, and if someone is talking too much, get the info you need and leave on time to make the next appt. It's your search, so be in control :)

Re: RH appointments
Every place was different. We were at our 'top 2' places for about an hour and a half each. The venues we weren't interested in, we were in and out within 30mins.

Re: RH appointments
We spaced our appointments 2 hours in between but that included travel time since we had some distance between them and I HATE being late. Appointments themselves took between 45 mins-1 hour.
Have a wonderful time on your search!! Take your time and make sure you see every place you want to see! You never know what you'll fall in love with!!

Re: RH appointments
So far, 3 appointments are set Fox Hollow, Westbury Manor and Milleridge Cottage, and we'll probably go see Jericho Terrace when we're done with those appointments.
Getting excited!!

All excellent choices!! Obviously I'm partial to Land's End. You definitely have a wide range of types of venues.
land's end is a good 35 min drive from my church, I just made sure there was enough time in between end of ceremony and cocktail hour for guests to get there. Most weddings I go to is a good 20 min drive from ceremony to reception so I figured, what's an extra 15 min in the car if I love the venue??
Good luck!

I've heard good things about Land's End! I do have a range of types....but I'm open to options.

Re: RH appointments
Some places we were only at for 20 mins because the people pretty much weren't that great with the information and then we weren't interested, the places we liked we were there at least an hour, we were at Giorgio's for 3 lol

Re: RH appointments
almost every single place we went was 45mins w/ the exception of 1 place we just showed up at on a whim and hated and left after a quick tour lol
