RH Booked!
Well - I'm not sure what happened to the Groom's forum, but I'll post here instead:
My FW and I booked the Three Village Inn for October 2012!
Stats:
Approx 120 guests
Looking for 80-110/pp not including service charge
Must have high ceilings
Must not be dark
NO WOOD PANELING
Prefer a view
One wedding at a time.
Here is a list of places we looked at with a brief explanation of why we scratched them off the list:
Timber Point Country Club (low ceilings, too dark, not inviting)
Lombardi's on the Sound (Minimum guarantee too high - pp too high)
Huntington Harbor Club (drove up to the place - DID NOT LIKE - canceled appointment!)
Coindre Hall (Fell in love with this place, but the dancing area was REALLY tight and narrow. We have a fun group and dancing in an open space is a must!)
Old Field Club (A bit snobby and pp is too high)
Hamlet Willow Creek (Nice place, big room. However, views of golf course only and too many wood accents. Would have been nice if toned down a bit)
Three Village Inn (EXCELLENT Views, courteous staff, large enough ballroom and dance floor - neutral coloring)
Swan Club (BOAT CRANE as a backdrop, gaudy railings in rooms - upper room too small - more than one wedding at once)
Here is a list of places we investigated:
(All of the above plus) PLUS:
Chateau Le Mer (More than one wedding at once)
Greentree (More than one wedding at once - no view - seemed like a 'wedding farm')
Flowerfields (nice, but too expensive)
Lands End (nice, but too expensive)
Cold Spring Harbor Club (just didn't fit our tastes)
Surf Club
Woodbury Country Club (didn't fit our tests - more than one wedding at once)
Captain Bill's - Bayview House (awkward seating arrangements)
The Riviera (Heard HORRIBLE reviews - mixed reviews on food - more than one bride reported having items stolen from bridal suite - in a family owned place, this is unacceptable, even if it happened once)
Thatched Cottage - ( a bit dated)
Crest Hollow Country Club (been to a wedding here - too modern + more than one wedding at once)
Leonards (DEFINITELY not - too gaudy, too much like a wedding farm)
Russo's (same as leonards)
East Wind (been there a few times - NO WAY)
Fox Hollow (more than one wedding at once)
Crescent Beach Club (seems great for summer - didn't care for the styling of the hall)
I apologize if anyone was offended by the reasoning behind why we rated some places as we did. Each couple has their own styles, colors, specs and views in mind, so what works for some may not work for others.
I'm glad this part is over!
(and I'm sure I left one or two out)
