RH cancellation

RH cancellation

I had to cancel my rh due to financial reasons. I had set a date for 2010 in a rh in Nassau county, does anyone know if they give you a percentage of your deposit back since i cancelled so far in advance? Thanks for any input

Re: RH cancellation

where was the RH that you cancelled? Suffolk has a law where you will get most of your money back. Nassau doesn't though and RH's have different rules about this. It says on the back of your contract what that RH's cancellation policy is.

I know on the back of my contract it said, that if they are able to book another event at equal or greater value then I would get money back and not owe anything. But then it had so many other rules. If they book another event at lesser value then i would owe the difference. Then also depending on when you cancelled, you get a certain percentage back depending on when.

But what did they say to you when you cancelled? they should've explained it to you but if not its on the back of your contract

My contract says i dont get anything back, but i had a glimmer of hope that maybe i would get something back since i had cancelled over a year in advance. They didn't say anything to me just to fax or mail them a letter stating that i was cancelling. The rh was in Nassau county.

I think it would've said it in the contract that you would get money back if you cancelled over a year in advance. You can call to ask any questions you have regarding cancellation policy in the contract.

Read your contract. I lose my deposit, and I'm guessing you do, too. Maybe you can work out a deal where they hold your deposit until that date is re-booked, at which time they'll refund you? Or at least a 50% refund?

I wouldn't take no for an answer. Speak to higher ups, beg, plead, and as a very last resort, threaten bad publicity here and elsewhere. Say that you understand that its in your contract, but that they could be human beings -- since it is so far in advance, well over a year, they should give it back. I'm sorry, that *****! The suffolk laws are so much better than nassau. Thankfully you only gave one deposit, but really be a pain in their butt -- 1k is nothing to them and it may be worth it to them to give it back to you to shut you up! Good luck!

I agree also talk to an attorney or threaten an attorney on them

I would ask if you get another bride to book on that day would you be able to get your deposit back, I think thats the least they could do.
