ok i checked and yes it does say the same thing in my contract.

Theres a whole paragraph about cancellation but ill just quote that part

'waives the right to trial by jury in any suit arising out of the contract and agrees to pay the reasonable attorney's fees incurred by the caterer'

well it says trial by jury but it doesn't say anything about settling or doing it just in front of a judge so that is still an option

Contracts are always filled with disturbing things! I'm getting married at the CBC in September and I don't have any complaints so far. I think one of the more disturbing aspects of planning a wedding in general is that the whole event is one big long contract in itself, and yes, everyone is concerned about the $$$$$.

You are going to sign contracts for every little thing you do in planning your wedding... even buying a hairpiece, shoes, etc. Weddings are a huge moneymaker, and everybody wants a piece.

SO, here's what I think... Decide what you really want for your wedding day. You have narrowed it down to two beautiful places, though you seem pretty sure you don't trust CBC at this point. Do you want the garden feel that TOG has? Or the beachy thing CBC has? Either way, you'll be signing essentially the same type of contract, and either way you will lose your money if you unfortunately have to cancel. It really comes down to what you want and how you feel. You can FM me if you have q's about CBC, but good luck no matter what!!

Thanks ladies I'm going to tweek the contract and CBC will give to their attorneys to decide whether they agree to my terms, etc. It's funny, b/c 3 years of law school has made me soooo pessimistic about EVERYTHING. you read so many cases where people get s c r e w e d and you do everything in your power to try to get out of it.

hahah when i read this it sounded familiar and i looked at my own contract and sure enough it has it!

However my uncle is a lawyer and said in NY state you can never waive your rights! Those statements dont hold up in courts in NY state.
