RH Deposits?

Original post by DonnaMarie7

How does this usually work- do they generally want a certain percentage at booking? Does it need to be cash/check? Full balance is generally due a week before the wedding in cash?

I'm seriously sitting here and crunching numbers and I just don't see it. I was out of work for a few months and wasn't eligible for unemployment so I'm playing 'catch up' now as I lived off my savings for that time. I don't plan on asking my parents for anything (although they might offer, I'm planning on doing this ourselves). FH and I both have a lot of available credit as there are no balances on our credit cards, but I don't think the RHs will take credit if we had to do that. Grrrr.....

They will probably take credit cards, but i dont know about the big final payment!
grrrr

I hear ya tho! Im living paycheck to paycheck and it's not cool!

If you guys can't swing something big, then seriously - try and keep the guest list small... do something on a friday night or sunday, and you can strike a deal Im sure!

It will work out! You deserve this!!!!
And I can book your honeymoon LOLOLOL

Mine was $1000. I put a CC down payment on all my major vendors... you def. want to be able to track that should something happen!

most RH will take credit card for desposit as will most vendors maybe you should pay all of your deposits (and a little more $ if you have it or want to) w/ CC because i think that after deposit most places/vendors only want cash!

We put down $2,000. We pay every 3 months. We couldn't use a cc for deposit or any of the other payments on the RH. They only accept cash or check.

Thanks all- I know with tax + grat, it will definitely be more money. I think I am just realizing we have to be a little more flexible with the wedding that we want as opposed to the wedding we can afford.

we have to put down $2000 upon signing, then the second payment was $3k, third is going to be $4k and the rest is due the week before the wedding at our final meeting.

The payments were very spread out for us because we booked pretty early and we asked them to spread them out the way they are and they said no problem.

Our RH asked us for a $1,000 deposit. We have to make payments every couple of months. The rest is due a couple of weeks before our wedding.

This, except our final payment is due a week or so before the wedding.

Ours was just a set price and then they gave us increments and times the rest are needed.

We had to put down a $1,500 deposit at booking.

We put 1000 down then they require 3 bi monthly payments of 1500 then the balance 2 weeks before. When payments are due we have give.3k and 4k just to get this paid off

At our hall we gave $500 at booking, then made payments every 3 months for about a year and half.

HOLY CRAP - thats a huge down payment! eeeek
The Carltun is ridiculously nice tho :)

It was between The Carltun or Oheka... both were amazing but the site fee at Oheka was just too $$$

we made a $1000 signing deposit and then it was 3 $2000 every 2 months.. The remainder will be paid closer to the wedding

They requested $500.00, but we gave $1500.
2 weeks later sent another $1500.00.
Final payment not due till 2012, but they will be getting it periodically

Exactly this

Re: RH Deposits?

Deposit was $5,000. 90% due 90 days before. Remainder 7-10 days prior.

If you do it on CC - use one that gives you sky miles or something - and use them towards flights for HM. RH has probably heard of people trying to do that before ...as well as other vendors.

Re: RH Deposits?

We paid I think a $1000 down. I have been handing them bank checks for the last few months. Since we booked so far in advance, they spead the payments (only half of our minimum quote) out until next November. So, then we'll still have plenty of time to pay the rest.

When it comes to budgeting, we made a guest list first. Then, I sat down and crunched the numbers. Then, we had to figure out what was important, what we could afford, etc.

A house is important, so we needed to save a certain amount equally while still living our lives. Together, we both put in a monthly payment. He puts his in once a month and I put in money every pay check.

Don't worry! You'll figure it all out. It's just stressful until you break it down.

We put 2,000 down. Next 40% is due 6 months before.
