RH negotiations

RH negotiations

Hi ladies I'm a new bride and will be starting to see venues in the next few weekends. I was wondering what you were able to get thrown in and how make you were able to negotiate down prices? I want to know what I can realistically expect to get out of them!!!

Thanks

Re: RH negotiations

Well, first off, welcome to the boards

I visited a lot of reception halls, and everyone gave me different things. I wound up going with the one that gave me the most for my money, which is what i suggest you do as well.

for example, my hall is giving me centerpieces, place cards, linens in a color i choose.

some other places i went would just give me the food and not the other things, so like i said, try to get the most for your money.

you'll be fine, take your time looking, its fun

Welcome!!!!

You definitely have room to negotiate. Don't be afraid to ask for things. We got a ton thrown in, discounted valet, chocolate fountain, upgrade to filet mignon, espresso and cordial bar and a discount on a sushi station. We basically told the BM right then and there if they threw in x and y that we would book. They were very honest with what they were and were not allowed to throw in, so never hestitate to ask! Just remember, they want your business, especially in this economy!

edited cuz i stink at spelling

Re: RH negotiations

negotiating is fun b/c most of the time you can get them to lower the price.

Every hall I went to was willing to throw something in.. They are very much willing to negotiate.. For our hall they offetred to throw in a few things when we went to look the first time, then we went to book, and before we signed they basically threw in everything we wanted for a very reasonable price.. We can also get a lower price if we decide to increase or minimum (which we are) Most will work with you all you have to do is ask! GL

as funny as this might sound me and FH brought our moms the second time we went. I can haggle but only to a point cause i get embarrassed but i did good by myself I got them down 10 dollars a head).

Neither of our mom's have any shame when it comes to that stuff so we let them do the talking when we brought them and they got us an additional 20 off pp and we got they're top menu! with tons of add ons

Re: RH negotiations

welcome! all places are willing to do different things. I think you should figure out what you would want and then see if they are willing to work with you.
Some places I visited had brand new chairs therefore I didnt care about chair covers, while other places i asked if they would 'throw that in'. Other things to think about are:
chocolate fountains/desserts
a dinner upgrade
personalized menus
a signature cocktail
the more places you visit the better idea you will have.

Welcome!

I don't remember what we said, but we were able to negotiate down $10 per person...so there is DEF room to negotiate.

Re: RH negotiations

If you want something, put it on the table. Say it with a straight face and act as if you'll walk from the table if they don't give it to you. ANYTHING can be negotiated - and plus, remember, if you're booking far in advance, you have the power b/c it is their duty to have those dates booked. Remember, they work for YOU.

I was able to get the seafood bar with ice sculpture, Viennese hour with the extra hour, an additional ice sculpture, and for them to let me use their chair covers and candlebras for the CH all for free.

My parent's went with us, and my dad did the talking. LOL
