RH on the less expensive side?

RH on the less expensive side?

Hi ladies,

My sister recently told me that she and her boyfriend should be getting engaged soon and they'd like a December 2008 wedding. They live out of town, so she asked me to help with the plans.

I know I may be getting ahead of myself, since they're not engaged yet! But i am so excited! i love my sister, and i love planning!

She said they would be looking for a reception location in Suffolk or Nassau for approx. $50-$75 pp. Is this a reasonable price? I wonder if December is cheaper, or if it's expensive because of the holidays. Any info or suggestions would be so helpful. TIA!

I did not get any quotes for a lesser price because of a December reception.

All places have different off months but the closer to the holidays the more that you can negotiate.

How many people is she planning on inviting? Day/evening party? Friday, Saturday or Sunday?

These are all things that will reflect the price. Sunday weddings are less expensive, most of the time.

Re: RH on the less expensive side?

December is cheaper than the summertime, but it's not as cheap as January and February. We're getting married at Timber Point and we're happy with the rate we got.

This is from their 2007 list--

Nov/Dec & March/April:
Friday: $73
Saturday afternoon: $65pp
Saturday eve: $77pp
Sunday day: $63 pp
Sunday eve: $69pp

Jan/Feb
Friday: $59
Saturday afternoon: $57pp
Saturday eve: $69pp
Sunday day: $55 pp
Sunday eve: $57pp

There are also guest minimums for each day and time, but I'm pretty sure they can be negotiated, because we did. We also negotiated our rate a lot.

Good luck. And congrats to your sister. When it happens!

Timberpoint will also work with you if you book with 6-8 months notice....they can go down to 59$ a head this summer only for a sunday afternoon...thats what they offerned me. Plus 54$ if you want the buffet option. Ithought would be more expensive but its cheaper there. I loved this place...its so nice and the food is great. Its just a little too small for me...Our guest lists keeps going up and up and ........started at 120 now its at 170

How many guests does she want?

I got married at the George Washington Manor in Roslyn and paid those prices for a summer Saturday wedding.

Definetly check out West Sayville CC, The Riviera, Timberpoint CC-I would see if they would be willing to wait until January 2009-the prices are somewhat cheaper in January.

The Sterling in Bethpage

Other affordable places are Manor East in Massapequa, Stewart Manor Country Club in Stewart Manor and Stuart Thomas Manor (woah sounded like I just repeated myself but I didnt! ha!) in Bethpage (or is that Farmingdale?). I think all three are vendors on here. Verdi's in Westbury is supposedly really affordable too.

Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst is very affordable for what you get as well! You just have to pick the right time of year and less popular times or days to get married to get really low quotes.

Good luck!!!

we paid $62 a head for a friday evening wedding in august and we got everything. we had 150, but the room holds up to 220.
