My friend from Maryland is getting married on LI and wants to get married on the water. I'm trying to think of places but I can only name a few....any ideas?

Re: RH on the water
Venetian Yacht Club has a beautiful view of the bridge to Fire Island.
Huntington Harbor Club is well...overlooking Huntington Harbor, lol. The dance floor is not that big, though.
Thatched Cottage is overlooking Centerport. (North Shore)
That's all I can think of right now. I think there is a RH in Bayville/view overlooking the water too.

Re: RH on the water
BTW...JMO, but I was really turned off by Chateau La Mer when I visited. The guy that showed us around was really shady. Any negative comments we had, he would say, 'Oh, that will be fixed by next week, month, year.' Examples: The upstairs room had a low ceiling and he said that they would be putting in a high ceiling soon. There were no flowers outside (in April) and he said that by the summertime there would be palm trees. He said that they would be building a bar upstairs instead of the 'rent-a-cart' they had. Oh, and the fact that there were vanilla scented candles all over the place...There's only one reason a business does that...b/c it smells. I'm sure they were covering up some smell!

I booked at the Ventian Yacht Club in Babylon. I thought it was gorgeous and the view was unparalleled. I didn't like Chateau La Mers view bc there was a getty station right out the window.. out of the on the water places, I liked VYC and Lands End best

Giorgio's isn't right ON the water, but close enough for pictures.
There's also a place in Patchogue called Louis XIV, and Riviera in Massapequa

Re: RH on the water
I second Old Field Club. We're probably going to book there. It's absolutely stunning, the food is amazing and I've heard nothing but rave reviews about it. The manager can be a bit standoffish at first, but he gets so much better once he realizes you're serious about booking there so don't let that deter you. The food is seriously top notch too, and it's perfect for smaller weddings (under 130-ish ppl). My FH & I looked at 20-something venues and this was our favorite! Happy Hunting!!

Re: RH on the water
Not sure if she really wants to be right on the water.. but I the Nautical Mile Cruise Line in Freeport NY is nice! I was booked for a wedding of 130 for june 20th 09.. I just cancelled.. so the date is open.. even though its soon :) but its def a place to look at... its very nice.. they give you a lot for your price.. its a 3 level yacht... very spacey.. different spaces for ceremony, cocktail and reception. The cook is an excellent known cook.
