Can you girls give me your opinions on the following:
Venetian Yacht Club Chateau La Mer Villa Lombardi's Atlantica Land's End Crescent Beach Club Huntington Harbor Club Bridgeview Yacht Club Lombardi's on the Sound Sans Souci of Sea Cliff Sands in Long Beach Swan CLub Russo's on the Bay Thatched Cottage Water's Edge Waterview Club
How you been there to long? What were your impressions? Have you been there for a wedding? How was it? Do you think some places aren't worth the prices??
Also, would you ever have a winter wedding in one of these places?? THANKS SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

Wow--thats a lot of venues and a lot to consider. We are having a little reception when we return from Antigua and we are having it at Lombardis on the sound. We are having it in one of the upstairs rooms.....the food is amazing and the atmosphere is phenominal. Do you have italian family members? My family is...and they are very into food. Mama Lombardis is also amazing with a boat load of food....One place to cross off the list is the Thatched Cottage. Its on the bay and has a certain aroma that is not desirable. Cute place but not to pleasant when the tide is oh so smelly!! My advice is go everywhere and see what they will offer. AND BRING THE FH!!! ITs amazing how picky they really are!! GL!!
The Thatched Cottage is amazing, I wouldn't cross any place out until you judge for yourself. Also, any place near the water will have a low tide 'smell'. I'm getting married at the Thatched Cottage in a month and could not be happier! Good Luck!

If I didnt get such an awesome deal at the Coral House I was going to book the Sands In LB... I LOVED IT... Richie is the guy to meet with... hes great... they are very reasonable... in were only 10pp more than the Coral House...
the deciding factor for me was thee bridal suite./.. it was very small... i have a very large BP and i needed a bigger room!

We booked CLM and the price was great. Our other fav was Bridgeview.
I always dreamt of having my wedding at land's end, it is gorgeous and more beachy which we wanted cause we are doing a beach them and their food is great BUT their prices are much too high and we didn't think it worth it... especially for non-summer months. We loved lomardi's on the sound too, but thought they were a little too pricey as well. We only considered places on the water too!
Yeah, price is a concern. I know most of these on the water are VERY expensive. CLM has awesome prices, which is why that was big on my list. I think the Venetian might have a good price too. Did you go there??? Did you go look at any of the others I mentioned? Thanks!!
the onlt place we actually 'went' to was CLM.. i had called all the places i was interested in over a 2 day period before i went there so i would not fall in love with a place i could not afford. CLM had a cancellation otherwise we never would have done June! land's end i had been to for a wedding.
Water's edge been too, beautiful, yummy but also pricey swan club i was at years ago, but know people who have had weddings there. they were very happy and i remember it being nice, good food and have heard they are reasonable. its funny... i pretty much started with the same list as you!

Re: RH on the water
I GOT MARRIED AT VYC AND LOVED IT. THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS GREAT. I HAVE BEEN TO LOMBARDI ON THE SOUND FOR 2 WEDDINGS WHICH WERE VERY NICE AS WELL. PLUS IF YOUR THINKING WINTER THEY DO A GREAT NEW YEARS EVE PARTY WHICH COULD GIVE YOU A FEEL FOR THINGS. I WENT TO A WEDDING LAST MONTH AT LANDS END WHICH WAS ALSO VERY NICE AND THE FOOD WAS OK. WE DID LOVE THE MASHED POTATO BAR. IM NOT SURE ABOUT USING THEM FOR A WINTER WEDDING CAUSE THE OUTSIDE VIEWS WERE AMAZING AND A BIG PLUS FOR THAT LOCATION. GOOD LUCK!

Re: RH on the water
My sister got married at Water's Edge and it was AMAZING - 100% fabulous, and everyone STILL talks about it (and it was 6 years ago). If you got married there in the winter, you probably couldn't take advantage of the boat cruise or the outdoor area - but - we couldn't either because there was a massive rainstorm the day she got married. I don't even know what the outside looked like, but it obviously didn't matter to anyone!
I went to a wedding at Land's End in March of 2007. Not 'winter' but it was FREEZING. I loved the RH but I would have liked to enjoy the outoor part, which was just impossible because it was so cold. I wouldn't rule it out though! It's a great place.
I notice you have Villa's and Lombardi's on the Sound on there. You may (if you haven't) want to check out my RH, the newest of the lombardi's family. It's on the water (which Villa isn't), but it's not 100% complete yet. It is supposed to be soon. If you check my albums, I have pictures of it from a month or two ago. FM me if you have any q's.
HTH!!!

Whoops - almost forgot - my other sister got married at Russo's, on December 30th (of like 1994 lol) It was decorated for Christmas and was beyond gorgeous. The wedding was amazing in all regards. But I have to be honest with you, I didn't even realize it was on the water (yes, i know it is 'on the bay' but I was only 14!!!) until many years later when I was back there again. In the dead of winter when it's snowing, you just don't notice the water

If you thought it was beautiful at christmas in 94, you should see it now... i live in rockaway so i pass it all the time and its really awesome the way they decorate for the holiday season!

Re: RH on the water
we just went to a wedding at Lands End in June. It was really nice, but I am not sure if you could see the water from the room. I could be wrong tho bc it was dark. The CH was really nice but it was outside and that wouldnt work in the winter. The food was good but a little spicy for me.
not to add more to your list but you have you thought about Marina Del Rey and Surf Club....both really nice...good food!
Just an FYI, Villa Lombardi's is NOT on the water at all.

Re: RH on the water
Thanks everyone. Well, we're going to have at least 150-200, probably more. So we need something to hold that many. I don't mind if there is more than one wedding at a time,.
I like the scenery a lot! The beach/ocean look I LOVE more than anything else. I want an outdoor ceremony (most likely- and only if we do the summer not winter), and an outdoor cocktail hour.
