RH question......

Has anyone ever been to East Wind and/or Danfords in Port Jeff?
I'm thinking of going to take a look at them soon and just wondering if anyone has any info.
I live in Oceanside, just wondering if its worth the drive....
Thankss!

Re: RH question......

I was in a wedding party at East Wind 2 years ago.. very very pretty but I didn't like where the cocktail hour was.. BUT I know that there are other rooms that you can have the cocktail hour at so I'm sure it would be worth looking at but it's going to be an pretty far drive for you. I live in Port Jefferson and it takes me 25-30 minutes to get there. The day of rehearsal dinner was a Friday night and it took me almost an hour to get there because of traffic- and you have even farther to go.

Danfords is 2 minutes from my house, I went to a whole bunch of sweet 16s there in high school - very cool, kinda small though.. BUT it's right on the water with it's own dock and gazebo - it makes for amazing pictures.

If you have any questions you think I can answer please don't hesitate to FM me.

Re: RH question......

Thanks! that really helps.
I know its pretty far which is why i like the fact that they also has rooms where my guests would be able to stay if liked to. Plus they have an outdoor cocktail hr area at one of the venues, which i loveee!

I heard that Danfords is small but then again I'm not having a huge wedding, probably about 150 or so and i think they can hold 170? im not sure.
Well see how it goes once i can get FH to get a day off!
Thanks for the info!

I should have mentioned too that Danfords has a really cool balcony overlooking the water.

In my personal opinion, East Wind is beautiful but it just reminds me too much of a hotel and spa not really a wedding place. I think the only reason I feel like this though is because I went outside at one point with my friend who smokes - and we passed two people in bathrobes going toward their hotel room. Danfords has more of an ambiance to it that seems like a wedding to me. Both are beautiful choices though!!

I heard the gardens at East Wind are amazing too but my girlfriend got married in December so we didn't get to check them out.

I haven't been to Danfords or East Wind, but if you take the trip out to see Danfords you should definitely check out Old Field Club in Setauket. It's a beautiful RH right on the water with high vaulted ceilings. It's really very different than a lot of RHs and is very elegant. The max the room holds is about 160 people. FM me if you have any questions, FH and I booked there.

'10er crashing...

I'm getting married at the Estate at East Wind in August 2010. Absolutely love it. It's a separate building from the hotel itself so you certainly won't see any hotel guests. They also have the Country Gardens, also a separate building, if you're having a smaller wedding.

FM me know if you want any specific info!
