RH times???

RH times???

I have a question about times???!!!

Just wanna put this out there and get some thoughts...

We are planning on booking at the Huntington Harbor club... they said we should do a 7:30 ceremony... 8-9 CH and 9-1 Reception.

NOW...I know there will be TONS of food at the CH...so nobody will starve..BUT that would put our guests eating at like 10... is that WAAAAY too late? Its a summer wedding...and MOST of the guests are 20's 30's and the ones that are older like uncles and aunts are party people..

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS???

I think you should listen to your gut over anyone but i personally think its a little too late.

we had the same issue with our hall. If we did a saturday night it would have been the same exact time frame you mentioned above and we felt like it was late to have dinner. I am sure the younger people would be fine but we were worried about the older people. that was one of the main reasons we opted for a friday night bc we can sstart earlier.

however, that being said, I voted for do what you want bc its true. people will come and have fun no matter when the wedding is!

i dont think its a big deal...

people are going to know that they should eat before the wedding, and there will be plenty thru out the wedding that i dont think its a big deal at all..

what is your other option?? 6:30 wedding, 7-8 ch, and 8-12 reception? its really only an hour difference

Re: RH times???

Our ceremony is at 5 PM, but it's not at the RH. Our CH begins at 8:30 PM and I kinda like it, especially for a Friday night. The sun will just be setting when guests arrive and it will give them time to get there after work so they don't have to take a day off- they probably won't even have to leave early!

ETA: It also basically eliminates the need for an after party!

Re: RH times???

Thanks...well there really is NOT much of a difference with the other option...not even an hr...just a 1/2 hr....

I LOVE the Harbor club...and I dont want this to be the reason we DONT take it...

They do a wedding in the afternoon...so that is the time we have to work with..PLUS its a summer wedding..... so I think its ok.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!! Keep the thoughts coming!

:)

I hope your wedding is just want you want.. I hope you post pictures too...

Re: RH times???

i think its fine. not everyone will stay that late, but the younger, partying crowd will be there
our ch was 7:30 - 8:30. then dinner and dancing from 8:30- 1:30. we also had a viennese hr too. so it lasted a lil longer.

Re: RH times???

once you pointed it out the way you did, i think its a bit too late

but you should do what you want

and yes people are going to come and have a good time no matter what!

so do what you want!

Re: RH times???

I think you should go for a 6:30 start time. Is the HH club two weddings at a time? Is that why they want you to start at a certain time?

Re: RH times???

Our CH starts at 9:30 so our guests will be eating dinner at 10:30 which we think is fine. They will be able to see from the invite what time everything is and they can eat a little something before. We are having a friday night wedding and wanted it to be more like a party

I say if you really like the place dont let the time change your mind. Your guests will be fine

Re: RH times???

NO...they are one wedding at a time...BUT they can have an afternoon wedding that day. SO that is why its at that time.

I guess b/c we are having our ceremony there (although just 1/2 hr long) that off sets the times...

who knows...

Re: RH times???

I think if you move ur ceremony to 7, that makes a world of a difference. why do u want it at 7:30? is it a friday night? just remember, whoever wants to be there will be there, so don't worry.

it's not a dead deal if you can't change it, but i think getting dinner served at 10 is a bit too late. i'm personally worried about my dinners and they well probably be served at 9ish. But like the poll says, it's your wedding, so do what you want

Re: RH times???

i think it's do-able, but a lot of your guests would leave early (like at 11 or 12)

i voted that it's too late because of that.

Re: RH times???

i persoanlly think its to late, no matter that it is a saturday night and there will be younger people there. but that is just me.
you should do what you want , its your day!

Re: RH times???

My wedding is 7pm-1am and exactly like you the ceremony doesn't start till 7:30 which means CH is from 8-9 and then dinner after that. I definitely don't think it is too late. Most evening weddings are at this time or even later.
People will have eaten at CH so they aren't going to be starving when dinner comes.
At this point my only issue is whether to still have an after party from 1-2...I'm thinking that may be too late, but I definitely wouldn't give up on an RH you love because of the time!

Re: RH times???

my times are the same - wedding called for 7, but won't start till 7:30. i've been to many weddings like this, and even later, and never had a problem.

That's awesome to hear! Thanks so much for passing that info on. We've never been to a wedding there, so I'm super excited to hear good things about the events.
