Sooo, FH & I lost our rental income, which was paying for our wedding every month, my job just gave out PAY CUTS, and things aren't looking so promising... I am TRYING to find venues to compare to mine so I can call them and see how much I can get them down in price. I've found 3 so far that have my date, June 26, 2010, it's a Saturday night, so I was VERY surprised.
They are: West Sayville Country Club Lombardi's on the Bay Sunset Harbor
They are all coming in the $55-$75 per person range, my venue is at $110... but I also booked over a year and a half ago, when the economy wasn't so bad....
Does anyone have ANY reviews on these places or ANY others that I can look at and possibly consider if my venue doesn't come down in price? I love my venue, but if we can't afford it, I have to love something else. I never imagined this would happen, but .. .it is what it is, and it happens for a reason, right?

Pine Hollow Inn in Medford quoted me $55 and I know Brentwood Country Club is very reasonable also. Sunset Harbor quoted me $60...I havnt been there but the pics of the place on their website look amazing.

Take the quote the others give you to your original RH and show them the price difference. This is how I originally negotiated with my RH - by physically showing them the quote I got from a competitor. They might be willing to negotiate with you since they're in suffolk and would have to give you back your entire deposit except for $100 - BUT you have to cancel within 6 months and you're running out of time so I'd do all of this ASAP.

Did you show them the actual quote? I am calling around now, I've found 4 places that are in the $65-$85 range, so that's promising.
I am HOPING to have EVERYTHING decided by the 14th.. My last appointment is with Majestic Gardens on the 13th....

Lombardis on the Bay is beautiful but I'm surprised they gave you a quote that fits in that price range for a Saturday in June....I was quoted 114
Def go and see what they say. How many people are you expecting?? I loved the Bay but the room is VERY small...that's why I couldn't book there. They will tell you they can fit up to like 190 or something but I wouldn't do more than 125 if you want a dance floor and space

Yes - we literally went to them with the actual pieces of paper from other halls with our quote on it - so make sure you save those after your appointments! Good luck!
