They are far and few between. My children look at them as if they are foreign objects. They would be so lost without the cell phone. My daughter will be 10 next month and wants one!

They're still a quarter - to start. A lot of what's left nowawdays aren't even Verizon but independent companies who charge an arm and a leg. You put a quarter in to call across the street and after you dial a message comes on telling you to put more money in 'for the next two minutes'

Re: RIDDLE ME THIS...

This actually reminded me of the GROSSEST thing that ever happened to me...

So I know all of you girls remember the middle school days of wandering around Roosevelt Field for hours on Friday nights bc it was the cool thing to do... Well, it was time for my parents to come pick me up so I put a quarter in the payphone, dialed, put the phone to my ear... THERE WAS KETCHUP ALL OVER THE PHONEEEE AND ENDED UP ALL OVER MY EAR!! Ughhh it was horrible! Til this day I hate the smell AND taste of ketchup. This totally scarred me for life!

My cell phone was busted a few weeks ago and I couldn't find a pay phone ANYWHERE. It was annoying.

Yes. Now its also 50 Cents to make a call not 25. I had to use one once b/c my phone died and need to make a call asap. It was 50 Cents. Thats crazy!!!
