I need a place to get my engagement ring appraised. Can anyone recommend a place in Nassau County?

His name is Barry Block and he is located in Garden City. He is very legit and all insurance companies will accept his appraisal.

I went to Cambridge Jewelers in Roosevelt Field Mall. It was done on the spot for $60.00.

I originally has an appointment with Zales for $150.00, but they canceled on me. I am glad they did!

I third him! He was great and the quality and detail of the appraisal and paperwork is better than any other I have seen. I recommend him to everyone!

Kel, where did he get it done? They can't do it for you?

Just asking, but what the heck do I know, I am in Connecticut...

Since the main diamond was my mother's, we originally got it appraised at the jewelers, so I don't want to get it done there again. And I really want a good appraisal with real paperwork, so I will probably check out the jewelery judge. $100 is alot, but it may be worth it...

Macy's on 34th street was great I think it's the 8th or 9th floor. I know it's not LI but it's only a train ride away.

I had a ring appraised by a gem lab that only does appraisals. The owner, Theresa Beltrani did my appraisal. She was really sweet and the whole process was really interesting to watch. They are located in the old EAB plaza in Uniondale. Here is the website.

How much did she charge you? If you don't mind me asking. Did you have to make an appointment or was it just walk in?

Not in Nassau, but for any girls looking...I used Bunty's in Smithtown on Rte 111 for my apprasial. She was great! $35 no matter what the ring looks like or is valued for, and I got my appraisal the next day. I would highly recommend it!

Yes I am curious too...Jewelery Judge wants $150 b/c my ring is 2 carats (maybe even more, which means more $$). But I know they give you a very professional write-up. Does this place as well?

Re: Ring appraisals

I had an engagement ring and wedding band appraised that FH and I had bought in the Caribbean when we got engaged during a cruise. We were charged $160 to have both rings appraised since they are done separately. She gave us a very professional appraisal complete with digital pictures in the documents at the end of the meeting. Thankfully we went to her. To make a long story short we were completely ripped off by the place where we bought the ring and thanks to all of her help and her documentation, we got FH's money back. Sorry, that's still fresh in my mind. Anyway, you need an appointment to go in. I believe it costs more depending on the carat weight. Mine was a little over a carat. You can just e-mail them or call them and get a quick price over the phone. Everything has a set rate.
