Ring Appraisals and Insurance

Hi all!

I need to get my ring appraised and insured. Does anyone know how much an appraisal is and where should I go? Does it matter?

Also, has anyone shopped around with quotes for insurance? I am clueless to the cost of insurance. Does anyone have any quotes?

I insured mine through Jewelers Mutual - I think it's $190/yr.

I SHOULD have done Jeweler's Mutual because it was the recommended one from GOG, but my father put it on his homeowner's first. Now I'm paying $100 more for it!
