Ring bearer question

My son is the ring bearer in my friends wedding which is less than 2 weeks away...and we are at a loss on how to get him downt the aisle...

Im also in the wedding and paired up with a groomsmen...

If any of you had a young child as a ring bearer what did you do?

He walks- but not enough that he would walk down an aisle....and there is no flower girl... so we are kinda at a loss....

Re: Ring bearer question

I think you should be the last couple to walk down. I think the order goes the bridal party, ring bearer and flowergirl then maid of honer. If you are the last couple you can ask him to follow you. It worked out for my friends wedding.

He wont be able to 'walk' behind me w/o falling- his walking reguires him holding onto something... or only making it a couple of feet

Maybe have in front of you with a little guidance with your hands - like you would walk with him at home? Use one hand to guide him and the other to carry the BoK????? Just a suggestion.

Why don't you have him walk down with you and your partner? I don't think it is that big of a deal if he doesn't walk alone.

my ringbearers are my two yr old nephews sooooo my bro and sis-in-law are in the bridal party so they are going to take them down the aisle and when they're introduced in the reception hall

I agree. I would have him walk in front of you.

Re: Ring bearer question

why don't you have him walk in between you and the groomsman, one holding each hand or something (or just you holding his hadn if it works out better). at least it's balanced that way.

What about a decorated Radio Flyer wagon or stroller? That way he can come down the aisle but not have to walk.

I was thinking the exact same thing!! I was just at a wedding where they decorated the stroller for the FG (she was 8 months) and it was adorable!!! The parents were both in the bridal party (the mom was the MOH)...and they pushed her down the aisle in her stroller all decorated with tulle & green satin fabric to go with the BM's. So cute!!

Re: Ring bearer question

at my friends wedding the ring bearer freaked out and we all knew he would not walk down the aisle, so his mom who was in the bridal party just walked with him holding his hand or she may have even carried him, everyone still knew what his intended job was, you have to expect the unexpected when you have children in the bridal party

my ring bearer will turn 3 and he's real shy so we are going to have him walking down with one of my flowergirls who's 4 yo. they will make such an adorable sight! u can try that. :)

Re: Ring bearer question

I think your friend should understand. They wanted your son as the ringbearer, they should want you to do what ever you have to inorder to get him to walk down the aisle even if that means you walking him down or carry him down...

Either do the wagon deal or if at all possible maybe carry him. My MOH did this w/ my onie fg & it was fine & she was adorable.

correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the groomsmen wait up by the altar with the groom, and the bms walk up the aisle solo, then you leave the church in pairs?

with that in mind, and the fact that your son is too young to actually walk the aisle alone, my vote is that you hold his hand(s) - whatever he needs to do to make it up the aisle. Personally, I think pics of that are adorable!

Coming back down the aisle at the end, you could just carry him - it's not a 'photo op' on the way out of the church!

Hmmmm...is there NOOOOOO little girl that could just walk with him or another little boy that will be in a suit?

my 5 year old freaked and couldn't walk down alone...but at 2 she was able to do it but she had a ring bearer with her that time.

little kids tend to see all those people and either freeze, scream or run the other way. not to scare you...just preparing you. someone not i nthe bridal party that he knows should be designated to be in the 'waiting area' until he's down the aisle and be seated somewhere accessable should he need to be removed.

Re: Ring bearer question

My little 3 y/o Godson is going to be my ringbearer. He can walk fine, it's just the 'fear factor' that we're all slightly concerned about with all the people watching. My brother and SIL are also in my BP, so if we see that he won't walk down the aisle by himself, the back up plan is for him to walk holding each of their hands between them. It's all about the back up plan...

I'm sure your friend is going to have to understand that your son is still a baby.... you can't force a child to do what he doesn't want or can't do! Whether he holds your hand, you hold him the whole way down, he refuses to walk down the aisle, stops half way down, whatever... anything your son does that day will just be seen as 'cute' by everyone watching and will be remembered forever! He'll be the star of the show!

What is his favorite food or candy? With that... tell him that he can have it when he gets to the end of the aisle. OR, have someone waiting at the end of the aisle with it

Bribery!!
