Okay, so there is one thing that i do not like when it comes to engagement rings. dirty rings!!! how sad is it when men spend lots of $$$ on rings, and yet they still get all crusty and foggy and grimey. it is sad. some girls never clean their rings and then they don't sparkle. like, how can you say 'oh, what a beautiful ring' when it lookes like it's last cleaning was circa 1982? is that a diamond or an opal??? just kidding. but i use the conossieurs red jar and the little toothbrush tube they have, but i was wondering what everyone else uses. how much does it cost to go to the jewelers and get the ring steamed? is sonic better? how often is too often???any secrets???

Will the alcohol affect the gold/platinum part of the ring?

Re: ring cleaning ?
if you go to your jewelers they can throw it in the sonic cleaner for free... itll make it really sparkly, and not remove any metal that polishing might...

Re: ring cleaning ?
I use a baby tooth brush ( it has ducks on it) & teh cleaner my jeweler gave me. I do it every week or 2.
Part of my warranty involves goig back every 6 months to have it checked 7 they will clean it then. Unfortunately , it will be may & november, but I might go in in October to have it cleaned early.

I soak it in alcohol. Then I rinse it in soap and water and it sparkles!!
DO NOT USE ALCOHOL. my jeweler said this is the worst thing to use!

Re: ring cleaning ?
alcohol, alcoholalcohol!!!especially convenient if you can get you hand on the tiny square packets - used in hospitals. I'm a med student and I am constantly grabbing handfuls of them. Keep them in my pocket & clean my ring when no one is looking, of course!
didn't see the above post until just now......what was the reason your jeweler gave you - I don't want to ruin my ring!!!

jeweler gave us some blue stuff that comes with it...
my trick (which i love) i'm in the mall where the jeweler is located, they said come in anytime to have your ring clean... so when i go shopping (i really need to do more of that) i always get my ring clean at the store.. it looks new again!!!
ME TOO!!

Re: ring cleaning ?
i didn't ask. we went on monday to look at wedding rings and i commented that my ring was sooo dingy (esp the PT) and she asked what i was using. when i told her alcohol and water, she said 'no wonder why, it's the worst thing to use.' she cleaned my ring and gave me the jar solution.
i guess i should have asked why, but i was too busy looking at the wedding rings that i forgot to ask.
another thing is that i always where my ring. since it was cleaned i take it off when i am in the shower and while i am getting ready. i haven't used the jar solution yet and it still super sparkely.
sorry!

Re: ring cleaning ?
dishwasher soap and a soft-bristle toothbrush. Then take it in every 3-4 months to get steamed and have the setting checked

Re: ring cleaning ?
i get it cleaned for free in a jewelry stor. It looks amazing when they are done. Maybe I will have to try to do it myself.
