Re: Ring Insurance...
To second what Michele said- make sure to check your policy to make sure that your renters/homeowners really covers the full value of the ring, even if its lost or stolen. My renters has a $5000 cap on jewelery, which would not come close to covering my ring. My e-ring policy covers everything, even (to quote the insurance man) if 'I flush it down the toilet'!! WTF??! Do you think that happens enough to be used as an example???

Re: Ring Insurance...
Yeah, it's expensive, but well worth it considering the value of the ring..

Re: Ring Insurance...
Jenny- that is a lot. Is it thru an existing policy or one purchased just for your ring?

Re: Ring Insurance...
$600 is alot. Mine isn't costing nearly that much (through Jewler's Mutual) and it covers everything, lost, stolen, etc.

Re: Ring Insurance...
I went to Jewelers Mutual to see what their rates would be and it was the same based on their state/county rates.I gasped when my FH told me, but he seemed to think it was reasonable and he knows a hell of a lot more about that stuff than I do! ;)

Re: Ring Insurance...
The cost of insurance will also go up depending on the replacement value of your ring.We have Travellers for renters and car insurance and we added the ring under a seperate policy for Personal Valuables.
If the ring ever gets lost, they write you a check for the amount that the ring is appraised for.
I think the insurance on my ring is $120 a month because it's insured for quite a lot.

Re: Ring Insurance...
i have renters insurance and got a rider on top.my ring was appraised very high (not to sound snobbish but i mean very) but then again my ring costed more than anyone's i know (personally) so maybe thats why. .
no matter what the price i know every one of our rings are stunning and its the thought thats counts, not price.

Re: Ring Insurance...
Mine is a rider on top of our renter's insurance as well. I think I'm probably in the same boat as jennbaby in terms of the insurance being high because the ring was appraised for a very high amount. It's through Travellers. The quotes we received from Chubb and Jewelers mutual were about the same, so I really think it depends on how much it's appraised for and/or how much it would cost to replace, as I mentioned before.
If you take out a policy that is for less $ than naturally it would be less per year, I suppose.

Re: Ring Insurance...
Im paying $110 a year, and we didnt take out a cheap policy. First we had it under my dad's house policy, until Jay bought the house, but now we have a house.
