How many people have their ring insured? If you do, is it through your home insurance policy or something else? I'm going to insure mine within the next two weeks and have it set up to go through our homeowners policy. Also, they ask for an appraisal...does that mean I could send them the one the jeweler he bought it from gave him with the ring, or does it have to be appraised from an outside source?? TIA.

Re: Ring Insurance...
thats a good question...b/c an outside jeweler wanted atleast $150 just to appraise it...can the jeweler that FH bought it from just appraise it for free?

Re: Ring Insurance...
wow i got my ring appraised for like 35 dollars at a reputable store
And just submitted that to Liberty Mutual which does our Home, Auto, Insurance plans, It wasnt even alot, and they prorated it because it wasnt even a full year
eta: I heard that the appraisal it comes with can sometimes be used but its always best to get an outside appraisal. just to be sure.

Re: Ring Insurance...
We insured my ring through my parents' homeowner's insurance (I still live with them). We had a very detailed appraisal from the jeweler who made my ring and it was accepted with no problems.
