did anyone get their ring appraised (in addition to the papers that were provided with the ring from the jeweler)? and did you get your ring insured? how do u pick the insurance company? annnd how long does the whole process take...i dont want to give up my ring for a long time (especially before the holidays!)
I dont know know anything about this stuff! so any info is greatly appreciated.

We have ours on apartment insurance. He got the insurance after he bought the ring just for that. Its really inexpensive, and well worth it. We used State Farm. HTH

They don't keep your ring. Just call your insurance company and they will recommend a jewler who will appraise it. They will do it for you while you wait there. And they will send the paper work to your insurance. Never let anyone take your ring outta your sight!!!

yeah i def didn't want to part with it...i didn't know if it was something that would take a long time of not.! we don't have renter's insurance (even though we probably should) but now its more reason to go get it and then i can just put the ring on there...perfect!

we had my ring appraised by Jewlery Judge on Old Country Rd (mineola?)
we used the insurance brochures he had there.. Jewelers mutual I think.
Anyway, we didnt want to put it under my paretns home ownders and have to keep paying them in the future.

yes I had both....my Fh made me get my ring insured immediately (i lose jewelry alot) so I needed it appraised beforehand..Im using Jewelers Mutual (most Jewerly places use the) ALSO Chubb is pretty well known.

FH had it appraised- we have a personal property insurance policy on it - I live at home and it would have been a PITA to put it on my homeowners.
but now we are buying a house, we are going to add it to our homewoners.

you have to insure it!! It's not safe to be walking around with it uninsured. I work at an insurance company and you won't believe the amount of claims we get for engagement rings.

We got my ring appraised at Good Old Gold in Massapequa on Sunrise Highway. They were right on the money.
My parents insured my ring under their homeowner's insurance.

thanks everyone! i had noooo idea where to start with this and i want to get it done asap cuz i would diiiie if anything happened to the and i think fh would killlllll me!!!!! i almost freaked today when i put it back in the case while i showered and forgot that i put it back in there!
my friend got engaged in january and still hasnt gotten her ring appraised or insured
