Yes. My engagement ring is over $20,000 so we thought it would just be silly not to insure it.
We would have done so even if it was a $2,000 ring.
No matter the cost you should, IMHO.
I also suggest every woman on this board has renters insurance if you are renting an apartment.
These are things you should not ever leave be.

Re: Ring Insured?
My ring is insured through Jeweler's Mutual. FH had my ring appraised from the jeweler he bought it from, and the jeweler gave him all of the paperwork. So all I had to do when FH gave me the ring was send a copy of the appraisal and register with Jeweler's Mutual. It costs me about $300 per year and covers the entire value of my ring (not necessary for me to post that number).

I am thinking of using Jeweler's Mutual also. That's a pretty good price to pay per year.

Re: Ring Insured?
Yes! You must!! I insured mine through Jeweler's Mutual. It was soooooooooo easy. I did everything online and all i had to do was email or fax them over the appraisal from my jeweler where FH got the ring!
Good Luck!

Re: Ring Insured?
I just got insurance for it the other day - I put it under my parent's homeowners policy and it costs just about $360 a year.....it is not expensive at all and totally worth it.....

Mine's insured under homeowners too, that was something we did right away! I was really nervous wearing it until I knew it was insured!

Re: Ring Insured?
Mine isn't
I want to get it insured. When we buy a house, I will put it under the homeowner's insurance.

Re: Ring Insured?
it doesnt matter how much your ring is- $200 or $200,000 .... you should get in insured. Jeweler's Mutual is the way to go.

Re: Ring Insured?
For now mine is insured through jewelers mutual. We will change to renters/homeowners insurance when we get to that point. but def insure it no matter how much it costs. its silly not too, for the amount you will pay per year, its worth it.
for me it was scary wearing it without it being insured.
