Re: Ring Insured?
Mine is not, FH and I go back and forth about this b/c it is the stone from his grandmothers ring and he wanted to use this stone pretty much his whole life. I think if I loose it I will just run...far far away lol

Re: Ring Insured?
FH had it insured before he gave it to me. Not only is it good in case I lose it, but god forbid I ever get attacked or mugged, he wants me to just give the ring up because it's covered.
We added it as a rider to our renter's insurance.

yea thats the best way. thats what we did because he had it insured under his mothers homeowners insurance before he gave it to me. they did it as a favor. but they said once he gives me the ring, it becomes my possession and would need to be insured under my homeowners policy- but i dont own a home and dont have renters insurance, so we insured through jewelers mutual. it was very easy, but i would say once you do have a homeowners policy/renters policy to move it under that policy.

It depends on the value of the ring. FH had mine appraised by the GIA and submitted that document to our insurance company. They then let us know what the increase would be.

Re: Ring Insured?
I think it depends on the value of the ring and also whether you are likely to lose it or what the setting looks like.
If the ring value is high, insure it. If you are likely to lose the ring, insure it. If the setting is a little scary - aka four prongs so if one is loose, the stone will fall, then insure it -esp the first year when you are getting used to the ring.
