Thanks for the info ladies. I didn't know you could put in under your renters insurance policy. We actually have a policy, not all I have to do is get the ring appraised

Re: Ring Question????
I live with my parents and once I had the appraisal and the GIA report, I just called their homeowner's insurance company and added what they call a 'Ring Rider' to their homeowner's insurance policy. Based on the value of your ring (the appraised value), will determine how much you pay per year for it. In my case, my insurance was $100 for a $5K appraisal, $200 for a $10K appraisal, etc.
Remember, your appraisal is probably going to come in significantly higher than what your FH actually paid for the ring - b/c *hopefully* he got a good deal on it. My FH bought mine through a diamond dealer in the Empire State Building and though they didn't give him an appraisal upon purchase, all we had to do was ask them for one and they sent it to us right away, without a problem. Otherwise, you could go to Tri County and have it appraised by one of the jewelers there, but just be careful and never let your ring out of your sight. If they take it into the 'back room' or something they may switch your stone that *presumably* your FH sought long and hard for.
Hope this helps!

Re: Ring Question????
I did the same exact thing. The Jewlery Judge is awesome. So professional and honest. And jewlers mutual is a reputable place...I paid 187 for the year, but the price always depends on the appraisal and where you live
