I am staying at the Occidental

My travel agent stayed at the RIU and loved it but she said it is much windier on that side of the beach and they have less restaurants than the Occidental.

she loved both hotels

Riu was too expensive for us but FH wanted to stay their

I'm staying at the Occidental and we're so excited. I'll post a review when I get back in early November! I've heard the same things about the Riu. That its nice, more expensive, but you can get the same luxury at Occidental

We stayed at the RIU!! it was AWESOME!!! I cant say enough about the RIU! we actually stayed at a RIU in cabo the year before and thats why we booked for our honeymoon! We both loved it, food is great!

met another couple while we were there and they were booked at the occidental but actually called their travel agent to switch to the RIU because they didnt like it there!

ive never been to the Occidental so im just going on that one couple

I do recommend you sneak out of the all inclusive for one night and eat at the flying fishbone!! most romantic and very delisious dinner ever! our table was right at the water, our feet in the water all during dinner! beautiful sunset!

oh also do the ATV tour, and the kookookonukoo bus tour!! lol sorry i know you just wanted to know about the hotels! lol we loved it there!

They both look amazing, we almost stayed at RIU last year, but decided to go to LA for vacation instead.

Re: Riu vs Occidental Aruba

When I stayed at the Occidental we had a GREAT time (went with FH and my family - so we were 6 people). We had a couple of complaints but I think it was because of th large group of people. My friend went there a couple of months ago and said she didn't have 1 compliant. They overbooked the hotel when I was there with the family and FH so they were asking people to move to another hotel and get a free room for a couple of nights next time you come. They were COMPLETELY understaffed. O! And if you go to the Occidental, make sure you book as many reservations for dinner as they would let you as soon as you sign in. The resturants don't get full but the reservations do quick!
