I'm getting married there, October 2004 also.. I also fell in love with the place. It looks like a rustic cabin, instead of those other places that look like some single Italian guy's bachelor pad with all of the mirrors and fomica!

After shopping around a lot of different places, the Riviera was what Fh and I both were looking for. We fell in love and booked that next day after meeting with the staff. I was very impressed with it all- $, food, atmosphere, 2 bridal suites, one wedding at a time, ect. There show case was good a few months back. There will be another one this coming October FYI. Our date is Dec 3, 2004. I love the way the decorate for X-mas with those two beautiful fireplaces. The perfect touch would be to have a dash of snow on the ground too

I am also getting married there, on July 17, 2004. Since I am 2 weeks before you are, I will let you know how everything is going at that time. I have heard nothing but good things about this place, the food is excellent, and I like that there is only 1 wedding at a time. Novbride, please let us know how it went!

I'm another Riviera bride...I love that place...it's just the kind of place I'm looking for...and the people that coordinate everything-Vicki and Michelle-are great...I'm going there next week to see how it will be all set up on a Fri night since I will be getting married there in almost exactly a year! I'm really psyched- I'm having close to 200 people but weather permitting the size is perfect if you have the outside...I did notice that the max capacity used to be 220 and they changed it to 200-that's what I was told-maybe they figured it was too cramped with that many??? I don't know but it's such a great place... Good choice!!

im getting married there May 15th, 2004!!!!! I love the place. im hoping for an outside cocktail hour too because the cocktail room is very very small. other than that, ive heard they do great weddings. I went to a tasting and the food was good. Ive heard its basically typical wedding food, nothing spectacular, but good.

I've been to four weddings there recently (including my sisters)...it's amazing!!! The food was great, the staff is wonderful and the decor is so warm! July will be beautiful with cocktail hour outside. The only thing I recommend...if you can, try to keep your number around 200 (guests). My sister had 220 and it was a little tight...they all fit, but it was tight.

Re: Riveria in Massapequa

My cousin had her wedding at the Riviera in December...it is very beautiful place and different. Everything went well...except for a few minor details.... just a few things happened that know one noticed except the bride and groom - - Riviera gave the bakery a wrong order for the cake, she asked for a white cake with banana filling ....no flowers, just plain! She got a cake with a cascade of flowers and banana pudding filling. Then also she had made a bathroom basket that they never put out.
Now speaking as a guest I would have to say that they definitely need someone to be more attentive of the Groom, Bride, & BP...the suite was out of food in a few minutes and no one ever came to refill anything...it was no big deal we were running around taking pictures anyway but I guess it's part of what you pay for so the service should be provided whether the whole BP is in a suite or just a couple of people.
Aside from these few little things everything was very nice, and all decorated for Christmas so the place really looked beautiful, the fireplaces were burning which gave a very nice 'home sweet home' feel and the food was delicious!

Re: Riveria in Massapequa

I'm getting married at the Riviera in 23 DAYS!!!!!

So far working with Vicki has been wonderful. There have been no problems at all and they are VERY accommodating and easy to work with. I already met my Maitre'D, who is young and friendly, and we had a food tasting the other night when we picked our menu, and it was very good!

I'm using the house florist (Flowers by Lorraine), but dealing with her directly. Same for the house bakery (Black Forest). I'm dealing with them directly, not through the Riviera.

We're having a small wedding of about 112-115 guests, so we should be okay either inside or out, but we're praying for nice weather to take advantage of the grounds. We want to be married outside in the gazebo.

I'll definitely give a full detailed review when I'm a Married Woman.

It Sounds really nice. I loved the view! You girls are so right about the fireplaces. I am going to book the Riviera for a March wedding and the fireplaces should be a nice touch.

I agree with Jenny2penny about the house photographer... she said 'there was something wrong with him'. I agree, I don't know quite what it is, but he didn't look well. I meet with him, because he was highly recommended by the Riviera, but didn't go with him...He just looks sick and not well. I want my photographer to be healthy, able to up with taking the large amount of pics I want taken on my wedding day...not someone who would be huffing and puffing around the grounds to keep up with us... Ya know!
