Re: Riveria Maya Poll

Valentin ALL THE WAY! I just went there last summer. They don't advertise this very well, but every night they release baby turtles on the beach. We went down and a couple was having a romantic dinner on the beach. They were just staring at the ocean, but massive sea turtles were digging holes to lay eggs... They have staff that dig the eggs up and put them in a fenced area. Then the staff goes over and digs the eggs up and takes out the turtles that are ready. You get to release them by hand down by the water!!

If that doesn't sound super fun, the resort had pools everywhere, great activities, food was amazing...

It was just wonderful!

Re: Riveria Maya Poll

I was leaning more towards valentin but trip advisor has been having bad reviews lately- i got really nervous! Are there a lot of things to do at the hotel and is it close by anything? I am staying 1 wk at excellence in playa mujues (spelling) but have to do 1 wk at another resort b/c of our budget.

Re: Riveria Maya Poll

There was tons to do at Valentin. I read bad reviews before I went there too, but I also read really good ones. They had a tons of activities throughout the day, either at the pool or beach... the nights had a lot of activities too. I could see how there would be bad reviews if the hotel was at capacity. It wasn't packed when we were there so service was great.

What time are you thinking of going?

Re: Riveria Maya Poll

I voted for The Royal. That's where we went on our Hm and it was AMAZING. I seriously miss it very much. The hotel is beautiful, the beaches are awesome and the food is veryy good. It's a block away from 'Fifth Avenue' Which is miles of shopping, restaurants, bars etc.
We went for 8 days and we were never ever bored

Re: Riveria Maya Poll

I just got back from the Valentin on Saturday. We had an amazing time. The hotel grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Our room was also very very nice. When we checked in I asked for an upgrade and they gladly gave it to us. Our room had a hydromassage tub in the middle of the room. And we had a balconey with a decent view. The food was also pretty good. Everyone we met at the resort was happy with everything.

Re: Riveria Maya Poll

we stood at the gran flamingo/ gran xcaret resort and it was marvelous, very relaxing, great great food!!!!! they had a mini club and it was just 5 minutes from 5th ave which is a strip of restaurants and bars. DH chose it and I love it...we want to go back there. Plus you get a free admission to Xcaret park (it's beautiful).
