Riviera

So yesterday FI and I took our wedding planner to do a walk through at the Riviera where we have our wedding booked. The basic idea was so she could see the venue in person to help come up with decor ideas that suit the venue. Their was a guy setting up the main room while we were in there, so she asked him a question about setting up the room a particular way. He totally went off on us and was SO rude for no reason at all. We honestly weren't rude or pushy or even asked them to do anything for us... she just asked a question. FI and I are both SO upset over this. I couldn't sleep all night. We are spending thousands of dollars at this venue and the owner is clearly not a friendly guy. up until now everyone has been very nice. I have heard things in the past about this guy and that he has a rep for being rude with people. But we have a long way to go before our wedding. I'm just really uncomfortable with someone being so mean to us when we are handing thousands of dollars over to them. Do you guys think their is any way to rectify this? Should I call the venue and ask to speak to them about this? i just don't know what to do. Now when we talk about the venue theirs a sour note to it and that just makes me sad.

If he is the owner that is an awkward position but he is not the only owner because when I did a walk through there the lady said 'One of the owners likes to buy things' insinuating there are more than 1. I would speak to the person you like that you were dealing with and tell him/her how you feel. They may be able to ease your worries sorry to hear that happened to you

I think I know who you are talking about, when we went there to make a payment and look around again, there was one obnoxious guy there putting on tablecloths. Honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Definitely mention it to your BM, but chances are he had no idea who you were and it is probably not his job to care. Everyone that I've ever dealt with at the Riviera has been so super nice and friendly so I'd just ignore the guy honestly.

yeah if it's the same guy, than I have heard he is not the nicest to deal with. I would call up and ask to talk to someone else who works there (I've talked to Mary a lot and she has been nothing but sweet to us) and explain to them what you experience and how it makes you feel.

i wouldnt loose sleep over it. i personaly never delt with that guy, but i delt with his brother and he was such a sweet heart. we went there to drop the stuff off and we thought he was a worker, he answered all my questions and then he said 'ok, gotta go water the flowers' i would call and make sure you only deal with that one. i believe his name is Pete. not sure. but as for how they run that place and what a wonderfull job they do, i wouldnt loose sleep. the day of our wedding they went above and beyond, and i never had a worry in the world there. if i did my BM took care of it right away!

yes Pete is awesome!! We met with him when we bought in our second payment and he was the one who threw in all the extras for us (including a Chocolate Fountain!). He was a very nice man to work with.

I've heard of this guy too. Personally if I owned a business with someone who was a total D-Bag, I wouldn't let them interact with the customers EVER. But it seems that they don't keep a good handle on him sometimes.

I wouldn't worry, and if it were me he was ruse to, he'd get it right back. Sometimes a bully needs to be bullied back and put in their place.

The place is beautiful, the food is awesome, and the rest of the staff is very helpful. Don't let one bad apple ruin the entire bunch!

Hey Everyone, Thanks for your advice! I'm pretty sure he's the owner because he kept saying that it was his business. Interesting info that theirs two owners. I think I am going to call Mary and talk with her about it. I just feel they should know how upset we are about how we were treated.

they are brothers, the company has been passed down to them. the riviera has been in their family for years.

I wouldn't sweat it... Pete is awesome...Mary and Vicky are phenomenal.. Make sure you deal with them directly and don't pay any mind to the other one.. You'll have a fantastic time - and dont let one sour person shade your opinion of the venue. It is a great place, 98% of who you deal with are amazing... Dont let one person make you feel less than fantastic about this place. Who cares if he is an owner... most people dont' usually deal with him at all!

Call Mary or VIcky.. trust me, you'll feel much better once you do!

Just wanted to update you guys on this. So I called and Spoke to Michelle and told her how much the whole situation upset FI and I. It turns out that guy was Pete! But she was so nice about it and apologized for everything. She said that after we left he actually said to her that he felt bad because even he felt like he was a bit harsh with us. I honestly feel so much better after speaking with her. In the end were all human and everyone has a bad day. So I'm just gonna chalk it up to that. Thank you so much for all of your advice girls!!
