Riviera girls - Bakery

Riviera girls - Bakery

Just called Black Forest bakery to set up a wedding cake appointment and was informed that they're no longer on the Riviera's contract! So disappointed Campbell's bakery is the only option now and when I called to set up an appointment I was put on hold for 10 minutes before I finally decided to hang up.

I was at Riviera last week and was asking about Black Forest and they never said anything about that.

Yeah apparently this just went into effect. I called Michelle right afterwards to see what was going on and she confirmed it.

That makes me nervous bc I've read some not so great things about Campbell's bakery. Did they say that there was any other option?

NM...just re-read your post!

I'm nervous too, especially after the customer service (or lack thereof) I just received on the phone from them. Since it's such a recent change maybe the Riviera is working something out with another place? Unfortunately, my wedding is only 4 months away so Campbell's it is.

I know Campbell's has some less than stellar reviews but I worked there for 5 years and can tell you.. Mabel does AMAZING work!!! Please don't be put off by all the annoying teenagers that work up front. Ask for Mabel or Greg right away and only work with them!! You're in great hands, I promise!!! Mabel still does all of my cakes for me and she is sooo talented and sincerely loves making wedding cakes!

I can't believe this! I was at the riviera the other day finalizing my menu and wasnt told. I already had my appt with blackforest and left a deposit for an upgraded cake! I called them and asked about it and was told the cakes that were already ordered are good but no new orders =[ I requested them for my desert hour and they probably aren't going to do that anymore
You would think i would have been contacted! I called the riviera but noone is there at the moment

Aw that really stinks. At least they're still going to make your wedding cake though! I'm kicking myself for not scheduling an appointment with them earlier. The Riviera didn't contact me either but it sounds like this change just happened within the last few days.

My wedding is in 7 weeks and I spent months thinking about my cake and the bakery my venue uses. I even got quotes from other bakeries and went on here asking people which one they liked, etc.
Just a word of advice: don't worry about it because 3/4 of the guests done even eat cake! Get the tasting and pick which one you like the best but don't drive yourself crazy over it.

I just spoke with Vicki the other day. Black Forest is down-sizing to increase their restaurant, so they have canceled all of their 'house' accounts. You still can use Blackforest, but you'll have to pay full price. Also, if this really bothers you, Vicki might be willing to take your credit off your final bill. Especially if you aren't getting the best customer service from the other place. I'm trying not to stress about it since we still have some time. HTH!

I was also disappointed when I called black forest and heard the news - I had heard such good things about them! But my FH and I weren't so concerned about the cake from the beginning - being that neither one of us can even remember the cake from any weddings we have been to, and we have the viennese hour! We were looking at it as something to have to cut, so we certainly wouldn't spend extra $$ on it.

The only thing that bothered us was how far away Campbell's is (we live in Lynbrook). It took an hour to get there and we were done with tasting and choosing our decor in 10 minutes! I think its because we were going so basic about the whole thing though. The girls working there were really nice and helpful though, so we aren't worried about it.
