RK Bridal

Hi Girls!
I was planning on going to RK Bridal.
Can anyone share experiences there or thoughts, comments, is it worth it?
I have been wanting to go there for so long.
I will be going during the weekday next week.
Any tips if I go???
I am exciting about going but apprehensive!
TIA for any info

That's where I am getting my wedding dress! I really liked it. You don't make an appointment, but rather sign in on a sheet and someone helps you. They have sooo many dresses. It's not very fancy, though...

I got my dress there and honestly they've been great.

It is a bit overwhelming because they have SO many dresses. Definitely have an idea of what you want before you go in there (or bring pics). It is much easier to describe to the very helpful salesgirls and they go pull dresses for you.

Good luck!

I just went there, and I loved it. No pressure, and went after work. They had a good selection & I'm probably going to go back to order my dress from there!

Re: RK Bridal

I went to a few smaller bridal salons before I went to RK Bridal which helped alot because I already had an idea of what looked best on me. The sales people were very helpful but I agree with the above posts that it can be very overwhelming. I had to have my dress special ordered b/c I needed x-tra length. My dress came in earlier than I expected, but it was the incorrect length. RK Bridal shipped the dress back to the manufacturer and I had the correct dress in about three weeks, no hassle at all. Im not going for my fittings until Sept, but hopefully there wont be any issues.
One last thing, if you go on the weekend - go early!!!

I got my BM dresses there. One of them used the no-frills and the other got measured by them. In the no-frills program my Bill Levkoff dresses were about $100 less than Macy's . They dresses came in early too! No problems. We also got the FG dresses there too!

If you know what you're looking for - they're great. They let you rummage the racks on your own.

When I went there with 2 of my girls we knew we only wanted to look at Jim Hjelm, Bill Levkoff, and someone else (name slips me at the moment.) The racks were organized, and we found the dresses easily.

They have great prices if you go via No Frills, otherwise, their prices aren't that great (when they measure you and alter.)

We found the Jim Hjelm dress we wanted, jotted down the price and style number, and then went shopping elsewhere to see if anyone else would beat their price.

Low and Behold, we wanted to get measured to assure we ordered the right size dress, and we wanted alterations from whoever we ended up ordering from. Valentina's Bridal in Brooklyn beat RK's price.

Re: RK Bridal

RK is a discount store ... do you shop at Marshalls or T.J. Max? If so then you know what I mean.

You look for your own dress in the racks, the staff will help but some are much more helpful than others.

What ever you do -- do not go on the weekend. It is insane there. There can be a 2 hour wait to get a dressing room. All the nicest dresses are on someone, so there is no really point in looking over the racks.

I got my dress there and have my first fitting tomorrow.

I went there on a saturday and had a great experience. I only had a 15 minute wait for a dressing room.

I have no complaints and my dress was $300 cheaper there than elsewhere (they same was true for a friend's dress I saw).

They do have an enormous selection!

We got the BM dresses there through the 'No Frills' policy. I was totally happy! Their prices are excellent!

I got my dress from there as well, great prices and no-nonsense service - which I like. If you are looking to be treated like a princess and fawned all over, then this is not the place for you.
Only suggestion to you would be to try to do during the week. The weekends are completely chaotic.

Re: RK Bridal

I agree that it is overwhelming. I got my bridal gown, bridesmaids dresses and even the mother of the bride dress there! They are great and have sooo many styles to choose from.

Here is a tip:

Look online at dresses that you like. Write down the designer and the model number. Bring your list to an attendant and she will help you find them. You only get to try on 7 at a time. But, if the girl sees what style you are looking for, she will suggest some for you. This is what I did with the bridesmaids dresses and it worked out beautifully!

Also compare their prices to: netbride and gownfind and Valentina's!

Re: RK Bridal

I went to RK and got my dress there - the saleswoman (Rosa) was very helpful and she would go get dresses for me as i was trying them on. She asked me what i wanted and what i liked then would suggest a certain dress. She helped me find the perfect dress for me.

I would hardly liken the experience to TJ Maxx or Marshalls though, that sounds a bit insulting. While RK is a discount place, they do know what they're doing, have professional staff who know the products and have a ton of dresses to chose from. I was looking to spend under $1,000 on my dress and there were many options there in my budget.

I went several times (all during the week, no way on a weekend) and got great service. My dress came in early actually.

I agree with a previous poster - if you're looking to be fawned over and to be the only person in the store, then go to a more expensive place. But ultimately, the dress is what counts, not where you get it.

Re: RK Bridal

Thank you so much girls for all your help.
Actually I like to do things mostly on my own so I don't need to be pampered so much which is great.
I am going on Tues because I have no clue on a dress and time is ticking.
Anyone know how long it took for your dress to come in there???
I went to another place and they tried to make me buy right there and then..8 months before the wedding.
I thought RK Bridal is like weeks??
Why so much shorter???
Thanks again

Re: RK Bridal

Hi,

I ordered my dress the first weekend in December and it was in the first weekend in February, (they had said I could expect it in middle of March). It really depends on the manufacturer though.

FYI - I was there yesterday for an 11am fitting and the store was not crowded. I would not describe it as chaotic at all. Do you have to wait? Yes, but then you can try on like 6 dresses at the same time.

Re: RK Bridal

Do they provide corsets/brasalettes for you to try on.... I don't want to have to schlep mine to work.
