RK Bridal

Hey girls, just wanted to warn everyone regarding a scam that RK Bridal pulled on my bridesmaids. We bought our bridesmaids dresses there over six months ago, all three girls paid the higher price for the 'Full Service' option. We were told that with this option that alterations would be included. They even set out an e-mail confirming that we paid for 'full service.' Well when it came time for my girls to go get fitted they charged them an extra $50 for alterations and claim that they didn't have 'full service.' When we checked the receipts and the original contracts they NEVER wrote down that that was what we paid for (even though the 'no frills' was less money, about $50 cheaper).

SO.....to make a long story short....for any of you who are buying your dresses there, make sure you get them to write down on your contract/receipt what exactly you're paying for, although I hear now that they have posted signs everywhere saying that you'll be charged $50 for alterations regardless, these signs were NOT there when we bought the dress and if that was the case why did we pay the higher price?! 'No Frills' is what we got even though we paid for 'full service.' Buyer Beware....

Re: RK Bridal Warning....

I believe the difference at RK is:

a)Full Service: RK will measure your BMs and order essentially taking responsibilty for the sizing. If there is a problem, you can hold RK responsible. Also makes you 'eligible' for alterations but not included.

b)NO Frills: You measure yourselves and decide what size to order. If it is wrong, you are held accountable. And you must pick up your dresses as soon as they come in. You can't have the alterations done by RK.

Not sure if this has changed but that was the policy when I was looking there last year.

Re: RK Bridal Warning....

Sonicstef is correct. The 'Basic Service' which sounds like you paid for, does not include the cost of alterations. If you need alterations after the dress comes in, then it's at your own cost and they cap alterations at $50, which is additional and is not included in the price of the dress.

Re: RK Bridal

You're right! Just got off the phone with them, only when we were there that was NOT what the girl told us, there were FOUR of us there and all four of us heard the same thing, she told us that full service meant that we would get alterations, not that we had the option of getting alterations there. Maybe it was her first day there who knows but all of us heard her say that so we're not crazy, but maybe we should have gotten a copy of their policy. Still annoyed that they charge people to measure you!! If you buy a dress elsewhere isn't it a common practice that they measure you to get the right size????? I'm in my friends wedding and when I bought my dress at her salon they didn't charge me extra for measuring me, only for alterations which was fine.

I never heard of that before!! Is it just me or does that seem like a rip-off?

Re: RK Bridal

It is not that they are really charging you just to take measurements. (It's also for storage). With the no-frills, they are giving you the option to buy the dress at a bigger discount, but you have to basically do all the leg work yourself. STill, depending on how much work is being done, $50 is not a lot to pay for alterations (and I believe $50 is the cap, it might be less). Also, I have been doing some comparision shopping, and their prices tend to be a lot cheaper than other bridal salons (even at the higher full-service price). I ordered my wedding gown there and save a few hundred dollars.

Re: RK Bridal

Sucks that their policy wasn't explained correctly so I understand your frustration but cg is correct - the 'no frills' discount is as if you were buying it off the web. Essentially, very minimal involvement of their staff and time allows you a larger discount.

If you were to order the BM dresses elsewhere, they wouldn't charge you seperately for the cost of the measuring, storage, and other service you are getting because they incorporate into the price of the gown. You save a lot by going through RK instead of a regular salon.

Re: RK Bridal

I agree with everything the previous posted said. The no-frills is defintely a bargain because you are doing the work yourself and taking a chance that you pick the right size. When you do the full service, the are the ones that hold that responsibility. Of my 6 BM, 5 are using no-frills and 1 is using full service and yes she is paying extra for alterations.

I understand your frustration Evelyn. I wouldn't be surprised if someone explained the policy incorrectly to you. I understood the no frills vs full service b/c I had been in bridal parties where we ordered our dresses from them. But, when I ordered my dresses I was asking a bunch of questions because I was ordering 5 different dresses. Everyone gave different answers. I think the more experienced sales people work in the bridal gowns section rather than BM. Finally, I went to the back and talked to a woman I knew was good from when I was trying on bridal gowns and she clearly told me what I needed to know and was 100% correct.

That stinks what happened to you, I feel for ya!
