RK Bridal

What's the 'deal' with RK Bridal? How are do they differ from a 'regular' salon, and what are their pricing, alteration, pick up policies and prices? I'm leaning towards going there, but I don't want to waste my time.

It is not really a salon environment. They have great prices and a very large selection.

They are great, I bought my dress there! If you are looking for the pampered plush bridal salon type atmoshhere you won't find it there. I personally would rather great prices and servcie over plush carpeting..lol

Re: RK Bridal

But, what is their 'deal' with alterations, delivery, etc? Do they do alterations? Do they have the same person do all your alterations? What is their cap charge? How do you know the dresses are 'for real'? And, do you get your own (private) dressing room when you go there? Also (sorry), what is the best day/time to go?

Thanks

They are real dresses. They are even listed on designers websites. You definitely get your own dressing room. They have an alteration cap at I think 250 but that includes the bustle.

I got my gown from RK, so maybe I can help you out. First of all, the gown designer is written on the tag of the dress. Unlike other places, RK is very willing to let you know the dress designer before you purchase a dress. Also, if you find a cheaper price elsewhere, they'll match it and take another 5% off. There are I think 6 private dressing rooms (maybe more or less - I can't remember). I think there are 2 or 3 seamstresses and alterations are posted as $225 cash only. Basically, it's a great place to go if you're looking for a nice dress at a great price - be aware that it's a factory environment - no pampering! I made the first appointment on a Sunday, and it was great! I showed up a little early and had the whole place to myself. I highly reccomend doing that, because I've heard they get zoo like on Saturdays. Good luck! So far I've had a great experience.

Although I have not actually tried on dresses there. I went there with my MOH to look at dresses for my BM's. We went later on a friday and it was pretty crazy. I can't tell you about their service. But they have a large selection that we walked around and looked at. I will tell you that there were about 20 brides with their mothers or friends and they were screaming trying to get into the few rooms that they have. But if they have the dress you want and it is a good deal it would be worth checking out.
They are arranged by designer which made it much easier to find what you were looking for. The prices seemed very good too

Red30NY,

What designer did you buy? Also, did they tell you whether or not the same seamstress will work on each of your alterations (as opposed to a different one each time)?

Do you think a weekday would be even better than a Sunday?

What is the 'procedure' there: do you work w/someone as you do in a bridal salon and try on several things?

Re: RK Bridal

Arranged by designer, how? You mean you walk through and go through racks of dresses by yourself? Does anyone actually bring the dresses to you - or is it more along the lines of a dept store?

Re: RK Bridal

When you go in, they will assign a salesperson to help you and they'll be the only person allowed in the dressing room with you. I went with my mom & FMIL and they wouldn't allow my mom in the dressing room with me. I got a Jasmine gown, and the designer and style number were written on the sample tag. The gown also came in early - it was due to come in March 11 but came in 2 weeks ago. I don't know how they are on weekdays, but I can tell you that there was nobody in the store until 12:00 the Sunday I went, even though they opened at 11:00.

When I went we looked through the dresses ourselves. They were organized by designer with the exception of the sleath gowns. You pulled out the dresses you wanted to try on and someone would help you in and out of them. They had a huge selection and were very helpful. I would suggest going there.

That's weird - this link just re-directed me to NYC weddings.com. What gives?

I think that LIWeddings is the same as NYCityWeddings because I use NYcityweddings.
